Writing style for YAs. Very dark. Addictive plot.
The sheer imagination of the plot of book1, "The Contortionist", hooked me so thoroughly that I carried on buying thereafter. I found myself ignoring the teenage writing style which would normally irritate me (lots of eye rolling, for example) because I so often wanted to know what would happen next.
The female narrator did a good job, despite having to voice some men who were supposed to have deep voices - she couldn't do that, but she made their voices acceptably different and consistent.
Be aware: there is a lot of (not credible, but vividly written) intense, violent SM sex from book 3 onwards. That content particularly contrasts sharply with the frequently American-teenage-ish banter and mannerisms of some characters who are supposed to have lived long lives. The series has to lose at least one star for that.

Well done close up
There are always many expectations towards series finale. I had a few theories, some of which were correct, other unfortunately didn't happen.
Overall, I liked it.
There were few very strong scenes. One of them almost made me cry. Pacing was a little bit off in one place, but I still had strong anxiety up until the very end. So that's good.
There were also plenty of extremely boring deliberations, grinding over and over the same subject. We get it! WE REALLY REALLY GET IT!
The whole series is very consistent in quality. All 5 books were good entertainment. I highly recommend them for casual read 👍
About my theories... 😏
* SPOILERS A HEAD *
The one thing I am fairly disappointed in is Cora's contortionist powers. She always degraded them by saying that she is just very bendy and wasn't using them for anything except performing and sex. I predicted what will happen to her in the tower, just when we first got its description in The Ringmaster. If anyone should be able to deimpaled herself, it should be her. I had this strong scene in mind where she uses her flexibility and strong will to little by little free herself, heal, free, heal.
I just think it would be more powerful for character growth than being saved, being given powers etc.
I also always like when heroes' "default" powers are being used in clever ways.
Unless she couldn't have used them in the tower, it wasn't really clear if her bendiness also doesn't work there. Anyway, I would prefer her to embrace what she got from the beginning, preferably in some badass way 😎, instead of inserting these immense powers into the story out of nowhere. I said my peace.
