About this listen

The fetters of fate are binding. Neither man nor god can break them.

After the fall of the great Vandarian fortress of Dragon's Bane, Elyon Daecar gathers his army in the Lakelands to the north. They have suffered a great defeat. Heroes and friends have fallen. Yet, with the Windblade in his grasp, Elyon will not yield. From east to west and north to south, he will take the fight to the enemy and soar.

After finally meeting with her grandmother in Aram, Saska—born of Light and Steel and Sea—has discovered the truth of her sire… and the great fate that now awaits her. It is much to place upon her shoulders. Much to expect of one so young. Ahead of her lies a great journey, and a great challenge… yet she needn't face it alone.

The Shadow Order is no more. Jonik, Ghost of the Shadowfort, has unearthed the terrible truth of its founding. As his company begins to disband, he finds himself stranded, battling with his demons. The darkness gathers around him, and he must fight to stay in the light. If he fails, he will fall… to the ruin of all.

Across the north, the dragons swarm, sent forth by the will of Agarath. In the days to come, their lord and master will show his face. A face of calamity and dread to cover all the land in shadow. If the darkness is to be repelled, the forces of light must rise up to meet it. From the pits of the earth, ancient creatures are coming forth as the world begins to return to one of gods… and monsters.

Really enjoying how the story is developing. Nice build of a number of the threads by the end. Only negative for me is that the writing needs a bit more editing - I lost count of how many times a face or skin or something else was described as 'as pale as milk' for example. But that's a minor annoyance as I've been enjoying the characters and story. 👍

Great story continues

Could easily have been 3 separate books, story flows well with each chapter dedicated to one character. This builds the story really well. Highly recommend.

Epic

This series has been amazing I have been rationing this last book because I have to wait a month for the next to come out, finally finished so now impatiently waiting. Right now this book, the story is getting really tense main Characters have died and others are getting closer to their goal. Great narration as usual.

Amazing

This is a really great series, the characters are brilliant and the story is amazing, it’s probably the second best fantasy series I’ve read (nothing beats the 3 x 3 book series by Joe Abercrombie).
I rarely start a series if I know that there are still unpublished books to come, I’d rather wait as some authors take years to write a follow-on book.
When I started this series, three books were available and I didn’t see any comments about a fourth book.
Now that I’ve finished grumbling, I’m very happy to have read the 5 books, I pray that book 6 will be released soon.

Can’t believe I have to wait for book 6 😩

Another rollercoaster of a ride in the bladeborn saga, twist and turns. Well written and excellent narration make this instalment as epic as the rest.
