About this listen
Unverified reports tell of a hidden treasure trove deep beneath the Owl Mountains in Poland. Many have tried, but all have failed to locate the legendary Nazi gold train.
Jack Reilly mourns the loss of his grandmother, a Holocaust survivor, and an esteemed historian. In memory of her, the retired Delta operator tours the place of her imprisonment, the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, site of the infamous Nazi concentration camp.
Suddenly, the crowded complex is taken over by a well-armed force. They’re led by a woman on a personal quest. The mercenary commander yearns to uncover the lucrative haul with the help of a journal that once belonged to Heinrich Himmler, leader of Adolf Hitler’s ruthless paramilitary organization, the Schutzstaffel. She shanghaies Jack into service after she learns of his past.
With innocent lives on the line, Jack agrees to help. If he fails, people die. But if he succeeds, and he unwillingly helps resurrect the Nazi party, even more people will die. Never in his life has Jack been stuck between a bigger rock and a harder place.
The Forgotten Fortune is the first book in international best-selling author Matt James’ action-packed archaeological thriller series The Jack Reilly Adventures.

Matthew Crow is one of my favourite narrators and this was a fun listen, yes it is absurd at times but sometimes you just need a fun listen which this was.

An enjoyable adventure
The story was enjoyable and had you enjoying the discoveries along with the main character. The villians were classically over the top in the vein of indiana jones. The main character was slightly one dimensional, but you can’t expect great depth from a short book. Will have to wait and see if things deepen with the next book. So all in all the book is worth spending a credit on if you’re looking for a fun adventure novel.

strength and courage
I really enjoyed listening to Matthew Crow. He made the characters and plot come together and life.
A roller coaster. Nazi treasure under a place full of pain and horror.
You have also the Knights of the Templar, under ground caves.
A ex Delta Force soldier, whose family history, is intertwined with the history of the place of horrible pain.
In between all the action, is a sence of humour. I found myself really liking Jack Reilly our hero. I loved the fact he talked to himself.
I hope we have more from Jack Reilly.

Great adventure story
A good adventure story, with more than shades of Indiana Jones. Ex Delta-force man fighting with present day Nazis for Hitler's hidden treasure trove. Lots of underground action, killing, falling down waterfalls, killing, finding secret passages, oh and lots of killing. A gripping fast-paced story which keeps you entertained (if you like bad guys being killed). The narration is excellent.
