About this listen
Foxxxy Golden Rule: Foxxxy is family.
When Luca’s life in Boston falls apart, he must leave behind his home, his job, and his chosen family—the feisty dancers of the Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club. But his trip takes an unexpected turn when a blizzard careens him off the road and into the home of David, a Canadian silver fox who is every one of Luca’s lumberjack fantasies come to life.
It’s been three years since David’s divorce, and while he’s content with his remote rural life, he feels there’s something missing. He doesn’t know what that something is until a captivating young dancer crashes his car outside his cabin in the middle of a snowstorm and reminds David that there is more to life than simply existing.
Neither Luca nor David planned for this detour, but they only have to survive two days together in close quarters. How hard could it be? It’s not like 48 hours is long enough to fall in love. Or is it?
Discover how Luca and his sexy Canuck, David, met in this prequel novella to the Foxxxy series.

John York's performance was very good. He brought to life the turmoil, emotion, and personality of these guys so well.
Good!

The plot is a gentle exploration of what people truly want. Luca is lost and stuck in his life (kind of like how his car gets stuck in the snow during a blizzard). Meeting David is the catalyst both men need to realize they need more in life. They need each other. The angst is mostly internal, but it gets neatly sorted by the end of the book, wrapped up in a happy ending bow. What I really enjoyed about this book is the characters and their development (also all the humor). I thought it was a sweet, cute romance that grabbed my attention.
The audiobook was narrated by John York who does a fabulous job. I like how John incorporated Canadian pronunciations of certain words to make David’s character feel more authentic. The audiobook production was well done and it was enjoyable to listen to.
I Enjoyed It

Quickly – as a Canadian – I have to say the distances were off and the visibility was wonky.
Luca winds up being rescued by David, a lumberjack. David’s given up modern conveniences for living in the back county. He chops wood, shoots game, and heads into the city periodically to see his daughter who is in university. Basically, he’s happy. Then some Bostonian transplant winds up on his doorstep and suddenly he’s thinking of doing interesting things with his interloper. But Luca’s a guest. So jumping his bones would be rude, right? Except if it’s what Luca wants and he complies, then he’s just being a good host, right?
It's all so confusing. And it doesn’t help that Luca is firmly an American city boy and David is firmly a Canadian living in the back country. No possibility of a happily ever after for them, right?
Well, you’ll just have to listen to find out. Speaking of listening, John York does a great job of narrating this series and his Bostonian Christian is adorable. He did okay with the Canadian as well. I enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next book.
Great Prequel

Considering the length of the book, Nikole has packed quite a lot in and I felt like we get to know the characters really well. Luca is escaping the end of a bad relationship and no prospects so is driving home to his parents. David is basically living as a recluse in his remote cabin in Canada several years after the mutual end of his marriage but doesn't enjoy living so far from his daughter.
Unfortunately, Luca isn't really conscious for their 'meet cute' moment as he is fairly out of it after crashing his car in a snowstorm, luckily right outside of David's cabin. Cabin being the ex paramedic and good man that he is, rushes out to help. Their attraction is instant, or from the moment the danger has passed and it becomes a forced proximity romance as there's no way anyone is coming out to rescue Luca when he's safely sheltered from the storm. They are quickly drawn to each other - David's strength and care, and Luca's goodness and charm. They are also insanely hot together, making the most of the time they have together but it's also enough time for hearts to get involved. Love the way that things unfold between them and their HEA. An easy introduction into the Foxxxy world.
John York's narration is brilliant for these characters and their story. Though he only has a small part in this book, Christian's voice is by far my favourite, all of the voices he provides are great. I love the accents, especially David's Canadian. He truly brings this short story to life and all of the excitement that David and Luca share.

I totally loved the narrator, John York. He has a pleasant accent, and came up with great voices for each of the characters. I did a quick search on Audible, and he's got a whole bunch of books to his credit, but he's definitely new to me. And I hope to hear many more audiobooks performed by him soon!

The narrator did a great job. His voice was pleasant to listen to and he expressed all the emotions great. He did different voices for each of the characters that seemed to suit them. He managed to sound like a femme twenty year old and then also managed to do a pretty convincing older tone voice. Some of the accents of the side characters may not have been perfect but this was a great listen.
Loved this new to me author and series
