Summary

Few families in history are as renowned as the Habsburgs, one of the principal sovereign dynasties of Europe from the 13th to the 20th century. This enthralling audio provides glimpses into the lives of their esteemed members. The lessons that their lives teach will help guide your family in faith and will help you live in peaceful prosperity and grow in holiness. Their maxims could also provide a road map for healing the world we live in.

You will hear about the Imperial House of Habsburg’s saints and heroes, sinners, assassinations, and affairs, and the impact that freemasonry, Jansenism, and the Enlightenment had on them and on all of Europe. With warmth and candor, Eduard Habsburg, a member of the family and archduke of Austria, shares insights about the Seven Principles (maxims) at the root of Habsburg thought, action, politics, and family life, along with:

  • The main ingredient for a stable marriage and how to create a deep bond between spouses
  • The secret and value to a happy and productive family life
  • How the Habsburgs’ Empire was different from “Star Wars”
  • Five dates to remember in Habsburg history and their significance
  • How to die like a royal (and it’s not what you may think!)

This astounding Habsburg history tells of the devout reign of Maria Theresia Habsburg-Lothringen, mother of 16 children, who saved the family lands and organized pilgrimages and countrywide vigils in honor of Our Lady and the Blessed Sacrament. Surely, our world today be a better place if all of us—our societies and politicians—would study these seven rules for turbulent times and follow The Habsburg Way.

Unabashed easy listening excellence

A seriously enjoyable romp through timeless values appropriate for the modern day. Big thanks to the Austro-Hungarian emperors and their descendants for presenting these prescient counter-cultural values. Great stories and anecdotes keep you listening.

A good historical overview - A poor grasp on reality

Let me begin by saying that it's a book which teaches you a lot about European history. Evwn history buffs may learn some new fun facts. But it's clear that the author (understandably) have an extremely biased view of history, but surprisingly also of modern day politics, economics and society. Mr Habsburg assumes that both the catholic church and monarchies as institutions are benevolent and positive. In an extremely naive way he describes how the lovely and kind Habsburg monarchs had as their purpose to simply serve the people and make sure they lived their best lives.

It honestly becomes a parody and had I not known that Mr Habsburg was serious in his writing gs I would have assumed that he was attempting to make mockery of people who lack critical thinking. I suspect that Mr Habsburg may have been told too many stories by his grandparents and that he has spent too much time with royals. We're it not funny in being so unrealistic his poorly hidden desire, shrouded by making it seem a joke, for a Habsburg monarchical revival would be frightening.

Feel free to read this for the historical facts. And some advice on how to live life is genuinely good. But not much more. The book serves as a good reminder of why we should never let the Habsburgs return to power - They clearly have no grasp of reality.

Completely divorced from the lived experience of 95% of the planet

A lovely man with some old fashioned views that naively seems to suggest we can fix the world with a return to Catholism, empire & marriage between only heterosexuals. I don't think its unkind to say I was hoping to enjoy this & wish he could've done so much more to not evidently be extremely biased by his privilege. It's so concerning to think serious diplomacy is deployed by someone with such an unrealistically archaic view of the world that represents predominantly upper class white heterosexual men.
