Summary

Apple cider, bonfires, football, and - ghosts.

It’s homecoming weekend in Sugarland, Tennessee, and ghost hunter Verity Long is tickled to see so many souls - living and dead - back in town to celebrate. But not all reunions are happy ones, and when Verity stumbles upon a dead body by the football field, it appears someone has already evened the score.

With her long-lost mother in tow and her ghostly sidekick Frankie showing her startling glimpses of a time long past, Verity untangles the secrets and scandal behind her town’s favorite traditions. Even more shocking? The murderer is tracking her. And before she can discover the final truth that leads her to a cold-blooded killer, she may just be the one who loses the game.

Murder, Secrets and Romance the Perfect Homecoming

I'm already a fan of Angie's writing style and find her stories very easy to get into. You can find all of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries in my archive. I like the way she weaves all the elements of her stories together; the mystery, Verity's relationships with her friends, the strained relationship between Verity and the townsfolk of Sugarland who think she's nuts and, of course, the ghosts and their issues. I loved meeting Verity's mum and stepdad in this story and enjoyed the conflicting emotions that this homecoming stirred.

Tavia Gilbert is a wonderful narrator.
Tavia's performance in this audiobook didn't let me down. The pace that she read the story was ideal and I loved the emotion she poured into scenes. I felt my own heart pound and my adrenaline rise as Tavia transported me into each tense, heart-stopping situation. Her inflections conveyed every sad, funny or romantic emotion our heroine, Verity, felt. Tavia also adjusted her voice and created different ones for the many characters in this story, meaning that I was never confused about who was speaking during the various conversations.

I really enjoyed this audiobook - yes even the scary scenes that were less than cozy!
Haunted Homecoming has everything that I look for in a 5 star story; I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat. In short, I was gripped! Murder, mystery, humour and a sprinkling of romance - what more could a girl want!

I'd recommend Haunted Homecoming to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries with a ghostly, paranormal focus.
