Summary

Having no family, Jade MacKenna answers a mail order bride advert and travels across the ocean from Ireland to America to meet her intended. Taking the Express Rail to Rough Creek, Missouri, with her future husband, Mike Summerfield, they get caught in a holdup led by the notorious bandit, Hank Bentley. Things turn tragic, and Jade finds herself left alone in a strange land, with her fiancé dying in her arms.

US Marshal Hugo Rhode has been tracking the Bentley gang for months. When his friend Mike is caught in the crossfire, Hugo is charged with caring for Jade. He takes her home to his parents in Rough Creek, and they find that the troubles they’ve been through have drawn them together in ways neither could have imagined.

But Hugo has been burned by love before - and long ago swore to never let himself be hurt like that again. With the Bentley gang out for blood, Hugo and Jade struggle with their feelings for each other, fighting to stay alive and to stay safe and, despite it all, to stay together.

One of the best stories out of Missouri!

The more books I listen to and read by this author the more I love them. They’re short, yet the author achieves to give a full story. Not to mention the narrator who I thought did a great job and love the Irish accent by the way. Win Jade comes all the way from Ireland to be a mail order bride for a banker name Mr. Summers. They couldn’t have been more made for each other had a guardian angel put them together. Unfortunately on the train they run in to Mr. Summers childhood friend Hugo. He is a lawman following a dangerous gang on the train. He can’t say anything as to not blow his cover to any gang members that may be watching. Everything is fine until the gang members decide it is time to steal the silver and this is when Mr. Summers is fatally wounded and Hugo must whisk his intended bride to his mothers house to keep her safe. There is more to the story and I don’t wanna give away the ending because it is so good and yes it’s a happy ending but how does it become one? I love these books and cannot get enough of them. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves historical mail order bride romance you’ll definitely love this story. Please forgive any mistakes in my review I am blind and dictate most of it but all opinions are my own.
