Summary
Discover the infinite possibilities of the “vertical dimension” of existence.
Eckhart Tolle has long taught a curious truth: You’re not your possessions. You’re not your career. You’re not the events of your life. You’re not even the contents of your mind.
So, who are you?
With The Journey into Yourself, this beloved teacher invites you to join him on an odyssey beyond the “horizontal dimension” of thought and into an aspect of our lives that most of us overlook: the “vertical dimension” beyond the reach of the mind. According to Eckhart, the vertical dimension might be better known as the present moment or the now - all that ever really is. And that includes you - the real you.
Recorded before a live audience at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, The Journey into Yourself presents a rarely heard talk from early in Eckhart’s teaching career. Here you will encounter more than eight hours of practical, provocative, and occasionally hilarious teachings for awakening to who we are beyond the physical.
Highlights:
- Why the phrase “life is a dream” is more accurate than you might expect
- Piercing the veil of self-made suffering
- The gentle and fierce aspects of embodied Presence
- Why setbacks and discomfort are the most potent teachers
- Wisdom teachings from Buddhism, Christianity, and Hindu traditions that point to the embodiment of Presence
- Why right action can only arise from surrender to the moment
With The Journey into Yourself, Eckhart encourages you to step into the space between thoughts and discover the joyous treasures that lie within.
If your true self can’t be found in your job, your possessions, your body, or even the contents of your mind, then just who are you, anyway? Eckhart Tolle has long considered this question - and with The Journey into Yourself, he guides listeners on a fascinating exploration beyond conceptual identities and into the timeless consciousness of the present moment.

Life changing
I am so grateful to Eckhart for bringing this wisdom into the world in a way that I can understand and relate to. I have learnt so much and will listen again and again until I am fully living in the present moment. This is a valuable tool in self-transformation. Thank you.

A MUST for anyone struggling with life!
At last, I finally ‘get’ what it means to ‘Be in the now’, how to accept there is no past and no future... only this present moment! Thank you Eckhart for this wonderful experience! I will be listening to this over and over again.

Excellent talks but full of distraction
Eckhart’s constant burping and the distracting and overzealous laughter of one audience member were a test to my presence and being in the moment. That said another great set of talks by Eckhart.

Great listen with one big issue
As always Eckhart tolle provides great insight into what really matters in life and tells it in a meaningful and practical way. However as other readers have said there is some guy in the audience who laughs constantly and after a while this starts to become hugely irritating to the point that I could only listen to this book for short periods of time. Some clever editing is required as it really detracts from the listening experience.

Eckhart is an incredible man, I am so grateful for his teachings
But you need to edit out that intrusive laughter, I am surprised that you continued to record with this absurd noise in the background. At times there is no reason for anyone to laugh, it’s definitely a challenge to stay in the moment with that noise!

Edit out the false laughing
It takes away from the experience of this book. Otherwise a good listen, recommended without the background audience member !

practice what you're preached
If one can listen to this audio without being annoyed by the laughter of that one guy, the essence of what Eckhart Tolle is talking about is understood.

Wise words spolit by background
Sadly I couldn't even very far through this audio.
It was recorded at a public event and frequently a loud, annoying laugh is heard.
Very disappointing.

that laughter ruined everything
Eckhart will always be my favorite speaker, even if he says pretty much the same stuff I never get tired of listening to him. But man, did someone understand why this guy was laughing so annoyingly even without a reason? He ruined everything, such a shame
