About this listen

''This is the joy we need in our lives'' (George Monbiot)

''This book, practical and realistic as well as visionary, will keep that positive message before the reader's eyes. Joy is after all one of the best motivations we can have for change.'' (Dr. Rowan Williams)

Finally! A book about saving our planet that is fast, funny, and inspiring, too. Written in short chapters for busy people, Isabel doesn't bother with an examination of the problem but gets right on with the solutions. Her aim: to look for every single way we can take care of the planet; how we live and work, travel, shop, eat, drink, dress, vote, play, volunteer, bank, everything. And to do this wholeheartedly, energetically, and joyfully.

Beginning with losing her cool in a restaurant that will only provide plastic cutlery, Isabel journeys through native tree planting in the Highlands of Scotland, playing Samba drums with Extinction Rebellion, interviewing in person the people that supply her energy and food through every solution she can find until both narrator and listener are fully equipped to be part of the pollution solution.

''She gave my spirit a lift and my feet somewhere to stand.'' (Sir Mark Rylance)

There’s a lot of good ideas on offer in this book. Some of it will resonate deeply and you’ll want to try it. Some are ideas of which you’ll already be aware. And some will not fit your lifestyles, and that’s OK because it’s a buffet of joyful environmental concepts, not a set menu.
An inspirational book, lightly written and well worth your investment of time and money.

Very good book, covering a range of issues in a really accessible way. I enjoyed listening to Isabel Losada narrating this. You could feel her passion - and her positivity is very reassuring. Would recommend for anyone wanting to make a difference to the environment/climate crisis.

Informative and reassuring - a great book!

I have read and audio booked (usually both for my favourite books) most of Isabel Losada's books and always really relish her style of writing and her activism! So many points to take away and absorb from this book, and so much more lovely reading that i now need to go and explore. A joyous read indeed!

A very genuine book and passionately read book by the author. My favourite part is the interview with Riverford Farm.

I love a good audio book and this one ticks all of the boxes - wittily and warmly read by the engaging and inspiring author, broken into bite sized chunks for the busy listener, and - perhaps most importantly - genuinely informative and engaging on a critically important topic. The book is a delightful mix of the author’s own experiences and experiments in this field as well as really practical information and ideas that everyone from those just dipping their toes into environmentalism and seasoned pros can learn from. It’s an ideal listen whether (like me) you want something really engaging for when you’re out and about running or whether you’re planning to snuggle up on the couch with it. Isabel’s narration is so clear and flowing and characterful - you feel like you’re being treated to a personal reading, and I found that all the more motivating to try some of the things she suggests. As with all books in this field, not everything resonated with me at this point in time but it would have been a shame if it had - I wanted something I could learn from and be challenged by and I got that as well as a ‘headphone companion’ who brought a put a spring in my step every time I headed out the door with her.

A truly joyful listen

Inspirational, practical, achievable, joyful! I didn't want it to end. And I have already actioned many things Isabel discusses, joyfully, and passed hard copies of the book onto friends! Right, back to the beginning I go 😁

A joy from start to finish

Another rant from another angry environmentalist. Sadly unlistenable. Was really hoping for some kind of slant that actually brought joy to the process of being an environmentalist!

Nothing joyful about this at all
