About this listen
Mum always knows best… The stunning debut for fans of Celia Imrie and Dawn French.
Meet the daughters of Iris Parker. Dee; sensitive and big-hearted; Rose uptight and controlled and Fleur the reckless free spirit.
At the reading of their mother’s will, the three estranged women are aghast to discover that their inheritance comes with very tricky strings attached. If they are to inherit her wealth, they must spend a series of weekends together over the course of a year and carry out their mother’s ‘bucket list’.
But one year doesn’t seem like nearly enough time for them to move past the decades-old layers of squabbles and misunderstandings. Can they grow up for once and see that Iris’s bucket list was about so much more than money…

Feel good book
I initially thought the book was a bit slow and was going to be just another candidate for a chick flick. However I stick with it and was immensely pleased that I did. Some lovely twists and turns.

absolutely stunning
I loved it. My first book by Cathy Hopkins and it didn't disappoint. The narrative was absolutely stunning and even though I didn't know what to expect I was completely satisfied by it. Prewarning...you may need to get the tissues out.

The kicking the bucket list
Loved this very much and I wish my mum had videoed herself with messages to keep and cherished before she was too poorly to do so.
Fun, sad, life’s lessons for happiness...
A great listen for anyone who’s lost or not.
Thank you Cathy Hopkins

Emotional Familial Themes
This book described the tensions and emotions lying beneath every family. The three sisters’ characters are well drawn. The adventures were fun and engaging. Emotional especially if like me you also just lost your Mum.

Charming, witty and a beautiful journey
Thoroughly charming and provocative, in part, story. I felt emotions alongside the three sisters and although quite an obvious story, I enjoyed it hugely.

A real gem!
Where does The Kicking the Bucket List rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Interesting, entertaining and thought provoking. Most enjoyable.
What other book might you compare The Kicking the Bucket List to, and why?
I haven't read any other book quite like this.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?
My only criticism of the performance was that one of the main characters had a cold which was apparent on occasion, depending on which part of the book she was reading -obviously not done in sequence.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed this story. It had humour, good characterization and a tale that left you wanting more. It was also very sad in parts (I actually cried!). This was more than chick-lit, having substance to it that left me thoughtful and determined to be a kinder person. Thought provoking and still very entertaining.
