Summary

“Welcome to the family,” Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I’ll soon learn that the Winchesters’ secrets are far more dangerous than my own....

Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband, Andrew, seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late.

But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am.

They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Wow!!

O M G! Twists and turns aplenty this book had me gripped from the beginning and I didn’t see the twists coming. I usually listen in the car but I was so gripped I had it on speakerphone whilst I worked. Highly recommend this book

Totally absorbing!

Never judge a book by its cover! Plenty of twist and turns with some very believable characters, certainly plays with the listeners emotions. So Totally absorbing made a long drive enjoyable. Looking out for more titles from this author.

Great listen……..couldn’t stop listening

If you love twists, phycological thrillers and woman empowerment this is for you.
I became invested in the characters.

Great book

I enjoyed this and the story had lots of twists and turns but I thought the ending was a bit far fetched!

Pacy story with dynamic characters with some inelegant plot devices

I enjoyed this story, finding it pacy, well-phrased and with great character dynamics. I did find it pretty predictable with none of the ‘twists’ coming as a shock to me. The thing that slightly let it down were some clumsy and heavy plot devices that just did not ring true (the coincidence of the cop towards the end - really?). But overall a captivating read.

Actually stopped me in my tracks.

it takes a lot to stop me in my tracks, but this and the narrator delivered lines so perfectly that made me pause as if the line had been said to me. there's a review on here for one star because it says it's the predictable spoilt child and housewife/maid relationship, but I think that goes to show they never actually finished the book.
highly recommend you see this through to the end!
