About this listen

Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime.

To avoid spending her life in prison, Quinn makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, and her family. She grabs her passport and heads for the northern border before the police can discover what she's done.

But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night.

Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn't the quiet safe haven it seemed to be. The motel has a dark and disturbing past. And in the dilapidated house across the way, the silhouette of Nick's ailing wife is always at the window. Always watching.

In the morning, Quinn must leave the motel. She'll pack up her belongings and get back on the road to freedom.

But first, she must survive the night.

Was disappointed in this as Freida McFadden is usually much better. The narrator was dreadful, about know if this is her actual voice or put on, but really spoiled the experience. Shame.

Disappointed. Narration grated

At first I thought this was going to be so much like the old Hitchcock movie, I should have know better as FM made it her own, complete with lots of plot twists. Always the twist at the end, loved it.

Great thriller!

Loved this one! Couldn’t stop listening; so compelling! Better narration than some of the others too, although I did chuckle at “masseuse” - as someone else said this is pronounced bizarrely!

Another great Freida McFadden book!!

After reading some reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I worked out one of the twists but the main one I didn’t see coming. A good, fast paced listen!

Pleasantly surprised!

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Freida McFadden delivers another page-turner with "Do Not Disturb," a psychological thriller that, while following her established formula, still manages to keep readers engaged until the final chapters.

The multiple-perspective narrative structure works particularly well here, allowing McFadden to slowly reveal the truth through different characters' viewpoints. This technique creates a mosaic of unreliable narrators, each holding pieces of the larger puzzle. The shifting perspectives add depth to the story and maintain suspense as the plot unfolds.

Some plot developments fall into predictable territory for seasoned thriller readers, but McFadden includes enough genuine surprises to keep the story from becoming stale. The twists, while not revolutionary, are satisfying and well-executed within the framework of the story.

"Do Not Disturb" won't reinvent the psychological thriller genre, but it doesn't need to. It delivers exactly what fans of McFadden expect: an absorbing, fast-paced read with just enough mystery to keep you guessing until the end.

If you're looking for an engaging thriller that doesn't demand too much mental gymnastics while still providing that satisfying "aha" moment, "Do Not Disturb" is well worth your time.
