About this listen
A completely nail-biting crime thriller
"Mama, wake up." The little girl reached for her mother’s face with one pudgy hand. But the eyes stayed closed, and the blood continued to trickle across the floor.
When the body of a young woman is found, tied to her bed and the victim of a brutal attack in her own home, Detective Morgan Brookes is sickened by what she finds as she searches the house. And unprepared for the nightmares it inspires about her childhood.
When the DNA collected gives a positive ID, Morgan can’t wait to put the attacker behind bars. But the person it matches to is already in prison. How could the DNA of someone who has been locked up for over 20 years have shown up in Morgan’s crime scene? And then they make another close match. To Morgan herself.
Faced with the impossible proof that she is somehow connected to this case, Morgan delves deep into the crimes of a killer who stalked the Lake District two decades ago. But distracted by the old case, she misses the signs that he has found a new victim. And when he strikes close to home, Morgan finally realizes that she has been living on borrowed time. To find this killer, it’s clear she must confront the nightmares in her past....
A heart-racing, nerve-racking crime thriller. Fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott, and Patricia Gibney will be completely gripped.

Moreish to an extent.
Good book and an easy listen but seemed a bit of a convenient storyline in this one.
Still enjoyed it, however I could see the twist coming a mile off.
I’ll carry on with the series though, as the characters are likeable and the cases are compelling!

Another brilliant title by this fab author.
Listened to this in 24 hours. It was soooooo good. It was as good as book number one. The author is my new top author of cop/crime fiction. The narration is brilliant and the story kept me gripped from start to finish. It was good that we learnt more about Morgan and the memories she kept having waking her every morning at 4.25am
This book deserves more than 5 stars in my eyes and cannot find fault in any way. It truly is another little gem. On to book 3 shortly that follows on. Can recommend highly. So pleased I purchased all 12 books in this series. You just seem to sail through each title. Sad it came to an end.

Enjoyable story
Maybe a little bit far fetched at times but really isn’t that why we read to escape

Excellent
An excellent storyline, I was totally engrossed from the first chapter. Detective Morgan Brookes is investigating a brutal murder but DNA found at the scene is linked to a killer already behind bars. When the DNA also shows a close match to Morgan herself her world is in turmoil. What is her connection to the killing? Finding out will put her in deadly danger. Really looking forward to the next in the series.

The Killers Girl
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Alison Campbell
I’m so glad I came across this series, the story keeps you guessing till it’s ready for the reveal although I did suspect who the killer was I changed my mind at least twice as there are several that it could have been, well done Helen Phiffer the storyline is brilliant.
Again the narrator was fantastic in her delivery of the story and portrayal of the characters.

Okay, again.
Still listening, still cannot stand Morgan and without any spoilers, the crime and criminals are so beyond obvious to be a little farcical. Still like the other characters at the moment and they’re extremely untaxing listens and that’s what I need at the moment.

Had me hooked!
This is the second book in the Morgan Brooks series and I think it’s just as good as the first! It is well written with well developed characters that come alive as you get into the story. It is a fast-paced book with the twists that just keep coming. The ending was a very good twist even if I did pick up on the little hints throughout the book. Helen is very good at keeping you gripped and wanting more! I can’t wait to carry on with the series. This was also my first audio book and I throughly enjoyed listening to it as it helps you paint the pictures in your head a little easier.

More of the same, but worse
I didn't enjoy the first book, but thought I'd give this a go, it can take a while sometimes for characters to settle. It was even worse than the first!!! Just simply awful

Couldn’t listen for more than a few minutes
I really can’t listen to this narrator, it’s a shame because I really like this author. I’ll be returning.
