Decent story, but not a fan of the tropes

Above average writing, though I think I would have loved it more if it wasn't leaning into tropes that I don't much appreciate. We get the miscommunication and the ships-in-the-night of missed chances, both of which are just a bit ugh.

But the small town aspect, the friendly banter, the friends coming together for silly adventures, that was all pretty nice.
