Summary
They say your first kiss should be earned.
Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.
They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.
Mine were broken before we left church.
They say your heart only beats for one man.
Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.
I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.
Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.
They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.
I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.
One kiss.
Two men.
Three lives.
Entwined together.
And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

Stunning.
I an a huge fan of LJ Shen so I couldn’t wait to listen to this book. Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood were absolutely the perfect choice to narrate this book.
The story is hard hitting, emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful and stunning all at the same time. This is by far one of the best books I have ever listened to.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It is simply stunning and well worth investing the time it takes to listen to it. I absolutely adored everything about this story.

Villian & Nemesis
First of all, the narrattion. WOW Savannah Peachwood and Stephen Dexter were beyond amazing, their performances truly magnificent. The way they express all the characters emotions, the tone and paced of their voices was simply great throughout the entire Audiobook.
I cannot express how much I loved this book, it was perfect from beginning to end, it's raw, emotional, with so much angst that will draw you nuts and won't be able to think of anything else but this story.
It is so amazingly well written, it's the right mix of a perfect historical book, but set into the modern world, that only L.J Shen knows how to deliver it with so much perfection.
Wolfe Keaton and Francesca Rossi were amazing characters, with their complete different personalities, but they complemented each other so well. Their story wasn't easy, the pad to achieve their HEA full of many connflicts that teared them apart and many knots that tied them together. And you are left with no other choice but to suffer along the way with them, and be drowned in a pool of many emotions while trying to figure everything out.
*Wolfe Keaton was a kiss thief, but it wasn’t only a kiss that he stole. He stole my heart, too.*

A refreshing take this kind of genre. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!
This was a different flavour on a well known genre and I found it refreshing. Senator Wolfe Keaton confident arrogant handsome alpha, Francesca Rossi beautiful sheltered virgin. Both have their plans mapped out for their lives, one seeks revenge and the other seeks love and happiness with another. Unfortunately just like reality life happens and craps all over their plans.
The two constantly bicker and argue, distrust each other and that usual elephant in the room called miscommunication frequently stomps amongst them. However what neither can ignore is the passion and lust that ignites between them when in close proximity and especially when they touch.
I haven't read this author before, I will seek other book because this was well written.

A 5* story and a 5* listen!!
I have read this story in book form and really, really enjoyed it, so I thought I would add the audio and have a listen.
I thought this story was fantastic. Right from the start I was drawn into the world of Wolfe and Francesca, and what a nasty world that is. This is an enemies to lovers story, and boy was Wolfe a difficult man from the outset. Francesca, I'm happy to say, could stand up for herself. Sparks flew - good and bad. It is simply a delightfully written enjoyable listen.
The narrators were fantastic. They really did capture the characters perfectly. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys contemporary romantic fiction.

Keep Going Back
This quickly became one of my favorites, I must have listened to it at least four times now.
Francesca was such a passionate character, she never let herself be defined by her childhood experiences. She's naive and admits it but has a heart of gold and yes, a backbone.
Wolf was an interesting character, charming, mysterious and powerful. His determination to be the best at serving his country as admirable even if his morals weren't always up to scratch. You can feel his pain and understand why Wolf is the way he is, he's had to fight for everything and it makes him even more determined to get his revenge.
The love story is unique and doesn't fall the way you would expect it to, this book had me hooked and despite being almost 12 hours, it was never boring and I was never tempted to skip anything.
Another plus is the narrators, they made the book what it is, so easy to listen to.
I would recommend this to everyone!

Not as good as other Shen books
I thought the basic storyline was okay. Francesca irritated me a lot in this book. Just too unbelievable for me. I nearly gave up on it because of this. Too simpering for me!
Narrators were very good. Wolfs character and back story was good, could have made more of that I thought.

Not great but okish
The story was very up and down.mainly due to the female lead, Francesca.
The first few chapters were painful given how thoroughly irritating Francesca was. Her idea of “love” was unbearably naive and saccharin sweet. Once we got into the swing of the story it was a good listen, and we saw that Francesca did at least have a backbone. The scene was set for a really good story with angst and peril, murder and mayhem, for our main characters. Wolf is cruel, too cruel at times, but not irredeemable even after the dubious sex scene which walked very near a line. However having set up danger and potential murder and mayhem everything seemed to fizzle, Francesca went back to being an irritating child with the infernal Angelo, with the reader supposed to believe that she deserved an apology from Wolf, which she didn’t at that point. Then having heard everything her father had done to Wolf over the years she still ran back to him to live in his home, moaning that Wolf hadn’t come to see her, knowing full well it was entirely possible her father was keeping him out yet stupidly not realising. She then continues to stay there after her father had deliberately humiliated the man she purported to love! Maybe I just didn’t get that kind of love, but clearly I was missing something, and just wanted Wolf to leave her there to stew in her own juices.
Then the end it all just fizzled. We heard after the fact that the bad guy got his comeuppance, but we didn’t really witness it, and wolf and Francesca ran off into the sunset holding hands. The whole thing for me was just meh!
The performances were great though, given the material they did a great job.
There are much better LJ Shen books to read/listen to before this one.
