About this listen

L.J. Shen delivers a charged, addictive stand-alone about a tabloid princess who is desperate to self-destruct...and the grumpy bodyguard who saves her.

I landed in hot water with the tabloids one too many times. What can I say? My nipple wanted to come out and say hi to the paparazzi.

After that, my father presented me with an ultimatum—either he cuts off the gravy train and stops paying for my lavish lifestyle or I agree to have a live-in bodyguard.

And by bodyguard, I mean a sexy, formidable, out-of-this-world babysitter who just happens to be good at breaking spines.

Ransom Lockwood, ladies and gentlemen.

Now he is forcing me to try all kinds of weird stuff. Stop partying, clean up my act, get a job....

A part of me wants to tell him to get lost. I’m past saving.

But the other part? The other part wants to save him.

loved it! 😍

Hallie and Ransom were a great duo!

Hallie (aka Brat or Princess), is the daughter of an ex-President of the USA, a 21 year old, misunderstood poor little rich girl who acts like a spoilt brat and who, her parents believe is out of control and they have basically given up on.

Ransom (aka The Robot) has been employed by her parents as her bodyguard to try and keep her on the right track and out of trouble.

Unbeknownst to everyone, the Robot has issues himself and for someone who apparently doesn't experience feelings, it was lovely watching how they both helped each other to be their better selves.

I like books that leave you feeling all gooey and warm inside at the end of the story.

The narration was excellent.

Watch out for triggers of SA and r*pe fantasies.

From the blurb, I didn’t expect this to live up to my highest expectations from LJ Shens other books.

What an absolute surprise this was, I absolutely LOVED It. This is my book of the year so far. It has everything and more, it’s HOT as hell, dark, warm heartbreaking and beautiful all at once!

Sparks, Chemistry, Tension

I loved this audiobook. I found myself emotionally invested and absorbed from the beginning through to the end.

While there are dark elements and themes to Thorne Princess, I thoroughly enjoyed the banter, wit, humour, and verbal sparring of the two main characters in this excellent enemies-to-lovers story with a difference.

Ransom is a bodyguard (the hero/ antihero of the story) assigned to protect Hallie mostly from herself (a pampered, troubled social media princess), but also from murky, shadowy figures who may - or may not - be interested in a former President's daughter.

These two start off resenting each other, but like all good slow burn stories, their mutual attraction and chemistry starts to heat up and eventually boils over!!

This audiobook has some darker elements, some nail-biting tension, and unwelcome jeopardy to really mix up the plot and also made for a compelling and suspenseful read.

I highly recommend this novel to listeners who love highly dramatic romantic novels with a twist. I also enjoyed the narration.

Unintentionally funny but still finished

The story was trashy, but hey you probably realised that from the description. It’s charming enough though and I still finished it.
The performances were good but when the woman tries to imitate the man’s voice it’s just a bit grating and took me out of the scene. Some bits were unintentionally funny, but again overall it has charm to it and it’s enjoyable.

Change the FMC and the story is a 5 star read

There’s no FMC that’s more jarring, bitchy, spoiled, rude or childish than Miss Thorne. The audio narration, at times, made me focus on the sound than the content which really helped not throw my phone away at her level of entitlement.

Not my favourite but the narration saves it

The body guard was a bully and an unbearable ahole. She was a spoiled brat with deeper issues than most realised. They were both annoying for different reasons and even the consensual grape kink was not explored quite right, in my opinion. Still there is plenty of tension and steam, plus drama and some heavy subject of too. Both characters have major trauma from their past.
Over all a good story, but not my LJ Shen favourite.
The audio saved the story because the narration was outstanding. They made the story much better.
