Summary

The unabridged, digital audiobook edition of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, the unbelievable finale to the multi award-winning Artemis Fowl series. Read by the actor Nathaniel Parker.

Is this Armageddon for the Artemis Fowl?

Opal Koboi, power-crazed pixie, is plotting to exterminate mankind and become fairy queen. If she succeeds, the spirits of long-dead fairy warriors will rise from the earth, inhabit the nearest available bodies and wreak mass destruction. But what happens if those nearest bodies include crows, or deer, or badgers - or two curious little boys by the names of Myles and Beckett Fowl?

Yes, it’s true. Criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl’s four-year-old brothers could be involved in destroying the human race. Can Artemis and Captain Holly Short of the Lower Elements Police stop Opal and prevent the end of the world?

BRING BACK GERRY O’BRIEN!

No offence to Nathaniel, but Audible NEEDS to get Gerry O Brien back to finish the series!
Great narration, but accents are jarring, the characters are just not the same.

Gerry’s Artemis had the perfect balance of accent and tone, portraying his intelligence, sarcasm, cynicism and arrogance, the perfect blend of emotion and logic.

The characters have been completely transformed. Butler is Eurasian, not an Irish man! Fierce but quietly spoken. Nathanial makes him sound more brash.
Mulch just sounds like Hagrid!
We are going to listen to the series again and then read last book together, just so that we can end it on a more positive note.
We would buy it again though if Gerry returned!

As excellent as ever

Eoin Colfer must be one of the best most entertaining writers around. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single book in the Artemis series. The performance from Nathaniel Parker is fantastic and has mattured as Artemis has over the years. Its amazing how each book has told more of the history of the fairy people and this novel has not let the side down. When is the next episode due.

Preferred Gerry O'brien to Nathaniel Parker

I enjoyed this story has much has the previous Fowl books, but I didn't like this narrator, much preferred Gerry O, 'Brien who narrated the previous books all the characters sounded wrong, OK I know it's probably just because I was use to the other narrator and it's just how he think they should sound, but has a listener of all the fowl books I have gotten use to how they sound with the O'Brien and sundenly they sound different and gives you a different picture of them, it's like when your favourite TV character is for some reason played by some one else, very wrong. I think the same person should narrate the whole series.

Not as good as Gerry O'Brien

The story was as good as ever, but this recording was distracting as I missed Gerry O'Brien's narration so much. Nathaniel Parker isn't a poor narrator (although the accents weren't brilliant) I would be put off another book read by him. But you get used to hearing the stories in the same voice and Gerry was perfect for the Artemis Fowl books.

Not A Bad Ending Really.

The final book in the series was pretty good. I liked the ending although a little romance would have been nice. Eoin spent the series building the relationship between Artemis and Holly only for it to kind of face at the end. But all in all, a nice ending to a great series.
