About this listen

The must-listen gothic thriller of 2021.

This is the story of a murderer. A stolen child. Revenge. This is the story of Ted, who lives with his daughter, Lauren, and his cat, Olivia, in an ordinary house at the end of an ordinary street.

All these things are true. And yet some of them are lies.

You think you know what's inside the last house on Needless Street. You think you've come across this story before. In the dark forest at the end of Needless Street, something lies buried. But it's not what you think....

Was a bit confused to begin with, then started to understand. So beautifully crafted and when you think you know...
Very interesting to understand DID, specially in audiobook versión makes it so real, like being on the head and thoughts and feelings of that person, or many persons...
Very worth the listen, very well researched and written

good book but has a marmite twist is all I can say. Personally I still don't know what I think of the book overall. if it had of gone another way it could have been better.

Good story to a point

This is a dark read, with some uncomfortable passages, but it's worth it to follow the twists and turns of the characters. You know there's a reveal coming, and when it finally unfolds it is done with great skill.
The narrator is also exceptional, keeping the story going at pace and with finesse.

Dark, disturbing, but un-put-down-able

I found this book to be a very difficult read/listen. The performance from Christopher Ragland is absolutely brilliant, as you get a real sense of the individual characters, male and female through his vocal actin and inflections.

The story itself is something of a challenge, and at times is just down rite weird but intentionally so, on the part of Catriona Ward. A lot of the time I found myself wondering what was going on and why was I still listening to/reading this book?

The fact that I have given the story a five star rating all round, should suggest that the perseverance was worthwhile, although it was a difficult and troubling journey, full of mixed emotions and frustration. This is a very different read from most books and to explain why would be to spoil the journey, which, ultimately is extremely worthwhile.

DO NOT skip to the end and listen to/read the authors note because that will definitely let the cat out of the bag.

I recommend this book without reservation, despite being uncertain about it until, going on for, the last hour and a half. You feel as though you are starting to get to grips with it and then you feel that a bucketload of red herrings has been emptied into your brain and everything has been turned upside down! Immensely frustrating, confusing but absolutely brilliant… but you have to stay the path to get your reward.

Original, difficult and disturbing but, ultimately very worthwhile.

A fantastic story, and one which importantly challenged my own preconceived views. The plot is engaging and educational.

Brilliant 'read'

I tried and retried to get into this story without success. I think it may have been the reader’s performance of the work; just didn’t work for me. I expect I’ll give it another try at some point as the reviews would suggest I’m missing a trick here.

Three attempts

I’m pretty good at predicting outcomes but there were so many twists in this book that I just didn’t see coming. Absolutely loved it !
