About this listen
Tom Mison, star of the hit Fox series Sleepy Hollow, narrates the classic Washington Irving short story.
In the secluded Dutch territory of Sleepy Hollow, nebbish schoolmaster Ichabod Crane competes with the town hero for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, the 18-year-old daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer. As Crane leaves a party at the Van Tassel's farm one autumn evening, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, an apparition said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper snuffed out by a stray cannonball during the Revolutionary War.

Story Telling at its best
Tom Mison delivers this legendary tale with eloquent humour and spellbinding suspense. Sitting by the old wood fire, listening to Tom's narration painted my imagination with all the finery and technicolour of Washington Irving's rich text. This recording was so entertaining, I played again, immediately and enjoyed it's replay with equal delight.

Transported me years into the past
A good old-fashioned ghost story with refreshing detail. If you're looking for an easy read to send you back to a different time, this is the one.

A good story but should have been shorter.
It's a good story with a lot of atmosphere. But it spends far too much time describing food and vegetation.

wonderful narration
Where does Free: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks very high. I've always enjoyed different versions of the story but the narration was wonderful. To hear him narrate this story was a treat.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Incobod crane. He is the main character and the story is based around him therefore not enough information regarding the other characters to say otherwise.
What does Tom Mison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
As I said above. The narration by him is wonderful. Could listen to his voice all day long.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I find the end rather sad. You don't know the outcome of whether he lives or dies. He doesn't win his love.
Any additional comments?
I think Tom Mison should be a regular narrator of books. He has an amazing voice.
