infectious enthusiasm
Really enjoyed this. The lecturer's enthusiasm for Lewis and his works is infectious and I listened to the whole series in just two days. My only regret is that this series wasn't longer.

ENJOYABLE PERFORMANCE, EVEN IF IT DID SEEM A BIT PREACHY!
I didn’t get this for any spiritual reason, just because _ even as some who is born and living in Northern Ireland _ I wanted to know more about him. Enjoyed the performance, even if I didn’t agree with some views and it did seem preachy at times.

Very enjoyable
I had read the Chronicles of Narnia as a child and have a certain fondness for them and had stumbled upon a number of Lewis' other books later in life so I had read the books he is well known for but not much more. I found this a thoroughly enjoyable investment of time in finding out a bit more about Lewis and understanding some of themes that tie through his work. The lecturer is engaged in the topic and is clearly a fan of Lewis and this enthusiasm comes through in the presentation. As with all of the Great Course series - I do find that you need to ease into the style and content and it is not comparable to listening to a novel or audio drama - but is so worthwhile once you get into it.

Enthusiastic and very enjoyable presentation of the works of C.S.Lewis
Louis Markos presents in a really enjoyable and palatable way, going through Lewis’s works in a logical order. I too share Markos’s favourite, The Great Divorce. I found the description of the Narnia Chronicles enlightening. Thank you Louis!
I would wholeheartedly recommend this course. How about a part 2?

Wonderfully reminiscent
Listening to this lecture brought back memories of how listening to them affected my life. I remembered the place and the lessons I learned from the books, this especially for the Narnia books. I hadn't listened to some of the books like the great divorce. I look forward to enjoying more of C.S Lewis.
I know one thing that C.S Lewis is the one referred to in the final quest. That famous writer who wanted to grind up his writings into powder. If Lewis with such wonderful insights says that, how high the standards of God are.

Outstanding lecture series!
This has got to be one of my favourite series of lectures from 'The Great Courses' collection. Each one is meticulously researched and so passionately delivered that one cannot help but be inspired by them.
As a fan of C.S. Lewis's work even from a very young age I was compelled to find out more about what inspired him to write such memorable essays and stories for children and adults.
The lecturer, Professor Louis Markos, really knows his stuff and I highly recommend this insightful series to anyone who wants to find out more about this great and prolific author.
Well deserved five stars!

I really enjoyed listening to these lectures.
I shall put more of Lewis's works in my library now for sure, not just The Chronicles.

great listening
Lecture 1
I like this speaker, his words are accurate and he is clear and informative, no pretentious hyperbole, just listenable teaching.
Lecture 2
Surprised by Joy and Pilgrim's Regress
Really good expounding on these, wasting no words, just speaking things that I am so in tune with, even though the Irish are the ‘blessed’ and us English leave a lot to be desired!!
Lecture 3: Ethics and the Tao - Mere Christianity and The Abolition of Man
Again, with such clarity, I’m enjoying each lecture, one after the other. His students are blessed, imho!
Lecture 4: Nature and Supernature - Miracles and The Problem of Pain
Lecture 5: Heaven and Hell - The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce
When people squabble over something a Christian writer believes: I do wonder that they cannot just step back and either write their own texts, or just follow the Word in 2 Timothy 2:14 where we are told to not argue and quibble.
We are all free to believe the Word of God, whichever depth we go to, it is our decision and is hardly sensible when a Christian decides that another Christian is not believing in the interpretation of the Bible, that they ‘should’ do!’
Lecture 6: Lewis the Scholar - Apologist for the Past
“...Bringing down the world to the lowest common denominator” I have been feeling this way for a long time now!

Lecture 8: Temptation, Struggle, and Choice - The Space Trilogy II
Lecture 9: Smuggled Theology - The Chronicles of Narnia I
Lecture 10: Journeys of Faith - The Chronicles of Narnia II
Lecture 11: The Beginning and the End - The Chronicles of Narnia III
So enjoying the exposition of these novels. He makes them so real and listenable, I just loved it.
