About this listen
When an archaeological investigation of an old prisoner of war camp turns up several bodies in unmarked graves, it should be an open and shut case for DCI John Blizzard. But on a foggy November morning, his instinct that something is not quite right is confirmed when forensics show that while most of the victims died during a flu epidemic after the Second World War, one of the deaths was far more recent.
Who is this man? Why was he killed? As Blizzard and his team investigate, they begin to uncover a cruel crime and a promise of revenge that goes back generations. Worse, the killer is at large and now motivated to strike again. Can Blizzard piece together the puzzle and let old wounds finally heal?

Slow going
I found this book really hard going, nearly giving up numerous times;the slow laborious speech of the narrator was so boring that the story was difficult to follow. Really was a snooze fest. I won't be listening to anymore of the books in the series unless the narrator has been changed.

Narrated by Eeyore?
I listen to audiobooks all day, every day while I work. This is a very short one for me but I thought I'd give it a go because it was included in my membership. The story itself is probably good and I think I like the main character but I found the narration really frustrating.
The narrator reads in an odd tired/bored tone. It's like listening to Eeyore! His voice isn't unpleasant at all but it's just so lacking in any definition or emotion - just bored/tired sounding. Very hard to describe but I urge you to listen to a preview before committing. The voices he does for characters are good and distinctive but the DCI John Blizzard sounds very much like a very sleepy/stoned version of Dalziel by Warren Clark (if that means anything to you).
The story itself (from what I could make out) is actually pretty intriguing but I have found myself drifting off from it too many times and simply can't retain focus to listen. The humour is delivered so deadpan that it's hard to pick it up but it's good when you do manage to. I have stopped about half way through because I realise, again, that I have no idea what's happening and I've already re-started it 3 times to try to listen! A book just shouldn't be this much hard work.
I wouldn't listen to any more by this narrator/author combo I'm afraid - even included/free. It would be great for putting you to sleep though if that's your thing.

Too boring to complete.
As always, Nicholas Camm's narration is excellent. I tried so many times to complete the book but found I was having to rewind over and over as it was so boring my mind kept wandering. Sorry but on this occasion I cannot recommend.

Complicated, not stitched together and Oh! The narration…
Narrator made Blizzard sound at times like a Cornish pirate and at others northern of no fixed origin. Unfortunately the drawn out, slow and sometimes inaccessible narration meant that by the end I had no interest in who had done what or why. Complicated and unstitched together. I wouldn’t recommend
