About this listen
NOW A MAJOR TV SERIES
* * *
To solve an impossible murder, you need an impossible hero…
Seventy-seven-year-old Judith Potts is blissfully happy. She lives alone in a faded mansion in Marlow, sets crosswords for The Times, and there’s no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink.
One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. When the local police don’t believe her story, Judith and two unlikely friends decide to investigate for themselves. Together, they are the Marlow Murder Club.
But soon another body turns up, and it seems they have a real-life serial killer on their hands. Now the puzzle they set out to solve has become a trap from which they might never escape…

Delightful
All the best bits of a Cosy mystery, with eccentric characters, subtle comedy and excitement. A real joy to listen to.

Wrong Time for This Title (for me)!
I’m going to be honest, and it’s probably unfair - but this is no ‘Thursday Murder Club’! It’s not trying to be, but notwithstanding that, it’s very dry and lacking!
If you read and enjoyed the Thursday Murder Club, you may find this heavy (& slow) going. However, if you totally disliked Richard Osmond’s book, you may thoroughly enjoy this one!
It’s not my way to review a book by comparing it to another (I’ve only done it once before: Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series vs Girl On A Train), but I was subliminally drawn into this book with the Thursday Murder Club in mind. That’s unfair and it subsequently lessened my enjoyment of this book. I actually don’t know if this is a series, but until I can honestly enjoy this title, it would be unfair to try another.

Robert Thorogood comes up trumps
Excellent thriller, good characters. I enjoyed it very much, although I worked out whodunit long before the end.
The ending is a bit over dramatic and unreal but still a good listen.looking forward to the next book

Slightly disappointed
The book is ok, but the characters lack something and I found them unsympathetic at times. It is not as good a read as the Thursday Murder club by Richard Osman and the story is much less believable but it’s ok just not a page Turner you might say.

Really a very nice audible experience
This book hits the spot for me for a number of reasons. There's a nice central character, who is not without her flaws, but who you can't help liking. There's a twisty-turny plot line that isn't too gruesome for a bedtime listen. The story is well read and "performed".

Unfortunate Title
The unfortunate title cries out for comparison with a similar book, so I won't.
The more excellent books I have to listen to, the better, as far as I'm concerned.
Well written, interesting and likeable characters inhabiting a real world with a well thought out plot.
What's not to love?
The narrator was perfect.
Wishlisting the next one, to preorder nearer the time, and looking forward to more.

Really entertaining
I really enjoyed the plot. It made me want to come back to the book as soon as I could. Plus it’s always a good sign when you delay getting out of the car until there’s a suitable break! A good Who Dunnit!
