Summary
An illuminating exploration of Ireland's ancient dark goddess - the beloved "phantom queen" of the Celtic world - with practices for modern-day devotees.
The Morrigan is one of Pagan Ireland's most famous - and notorious - goddesses. Her name translated as "phantom queen" or "great queen," the Morrigan is famous for being a goddess of war, witchcraft and death, protection and retribution. This book also explores her patronage of motherhood, healing, shapeshifting, and the land.
Classified among the Sidhe (fairies), the Morrigan dates back at least to Ireland's Iron Age, but she is as modern as she is ancient-enjoying a growing contemporary and global following.
Author Courtney Weber provides a guide for the modern devotee of this complex, mysterious goddess that encompasses practical veneration with modern devotionals, entwined with traditional lore and Irish-Celtic history.

Interesting
I found the writing easy to follow and the narrator was clear to understand
I got this book to satisfy some long term curiosity about the titular goddess and it was mostly sated and I learned a lot more then I expected
The book explains the history of the Morrigan and her various different aspects and recounting myths featuring to them. The writer also provides context for the time period and culture said stories are set in and analysing symbolism in them which I found interesting.
It’s not just ancient Celtic legends as I was surprised to learn it also features various the personal views and opinions of several Morrigan worshippers who tell their own experiences with the goddesses.
While I can’t say it converted me I would recommend this to anyone curious about the dark goddess/goddesses of the Emerald Isle

It's a keeper.
Enjoyed this book very much. Excellent narration and a very cordial introduction to reputedly the most formidable goddess of them all.
Highly recommended.

Pronunciation of Irish language very distracting
Very informative book containing some opinions I'd never considered before. But as an Irish individual, I found the pronunciation and accent extremely distracting. Its a problem as people hearing this will think that this is how you are suppose to pronounce these words and this will get carried forward. Surely there was a person more familiar with the Gaelic language that could have done this..

The first book I read that actually speaks real
The rituals etc are complete codswallop but the other information makes up for it more than enough
