Summary

Survivors of an apocalypse take refuge in a mountain fortress and face enemies both living and undead in the first three books of this horror series.

Mountain Man: Ever since civilization collapsed in a wave of chaos and blood, Gus Berry has been waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the day when “they” will come up the side of his mountain. But when Gus encounters another survivor while out scavenging for supplies, he realizes there are other threats on the post-apocalyptic horizon.

Safari: Living on the outskirts of a zombie-infested city, Gus has grown accustomed to the perils he faces on a daily basis. But now the zombies are disappearing, and a mysterious new threat is assembling—something even more relentless and terrifying than the roaming tides of dead flesh. And it’s preparing to hunt . . .

Hellifax: In a world overrun with zombies, Scott is hunting a remorseless killer who’s all too human. Following the murderer from Annapolis to the ice-glazed landscape of Halifax, Scott encounters half-frozen deadheads, infected vermin, and a few remaining survivors struggling to find safety. Welcome to Hellifax.

Kept me going from start to finish

Great characters and good angle on the threat from other survivors in apocalypse really gives it a thriller edge

Great find

I put getting this off for a long time because I made the mistake of listening to the hospital first which I hated.
This however is awesome. Nice find.

Everything you would want in a zombie book

The story is gripping lots of action and it feels like a George A Romero marathon.
I love that from the first minute. The narration is fabulous and the story is really good, very dark in all the right places but still with a glimmer of hope. I must say it is one of the best zombie books I’ve ever come across & I can’t wait for it to be a movie.

great zombies

my first try into the zombie genre and I must say I loved it. the trilogy was brilliant and story kept me gripped and wanting more though all 3 books. R.C Bray was brilliant keeping the tension and the character definitions. recommended.

Strangely gripping

This is overblown, overwritten and over the top nonsense, but oddly entertaining. Well read by RC Bray, my only quibble is that some of the descriptions are really grotesque and unnecessarily disturbing.

Phenomenal!!!! Wow! Awesome!

This set of books blew me away! I usually only prefer to read or listen to crime thrillers and spy novels but the synopsis for Mountain Man grabbed my interest. So glad i chanced it. I have now downloaded the prequel and the follow on book. Can't get enough! Awesome writing and equally awesome narrator. Thoroughly recommended!

how would you react?

i think most of us would turn to the bottle to numb the pain and terror of a world destroyed by the zombie apocalypse.Gus is a hard drinking everyman who is trying to survive the hordes of flesh eating undead and zombified mutant rats. this is a very visceral trilogy that doesnt hold back on the gore, it does not feel gratuitous , just realistic.

Gus endures the hardships, loneliness and deprivations whilst trying to maintain his humanity. Hes gruff and rough around the edges but all the more believable for his reactions to what has happened.

i could not stop listening to his story. there are enough characters to keep the plot moving fast enough to keep you engaged but not too many that it is difficult to keep track of what is happening to whom.
i thorougly recommend this trilogy, its a fantastic story at times its gripping, funny and heartbreaking, but never dull. you get 3 books for the price of 1. whats not to like? not for anyone with a rat phobia.

3 books for one.

Zombie storytelling is everywhere at the moment so it's hard to do something new. however I really enjoyed this series. especially the first 2 books, nice detailing and the main character Gus is just an every day man doing what he can to live on the new world.
