Summary

For an American woman, a bad day of traveling turns into a compromising morning when she wakes up beside a naked nobleman in this Regency romance.

The surprise of her life

Sophisticated. Scandalous. In fact, Miss Sarah Hamilton, a proper Philadelphian, finds London society altogether shocking. How can it be that she has awakened from her innocent slumber to find herself in bed next to a handsome - and exceedingly naked - man? The laughing onlookers standing in the doorway are no help whatsoever and surely this amorous lunatic cannot be a duke, as he claims. She is compromised - though she most certainly will not marry him!

The sweetest moment of his

James, the Duke of Alford, is enchanted by his unexpected bedmate - and not at all afraid of her pink-cheeked fury. True, the circumstances and place of their meeting are most unusual, but the spirited American who's pummeling him with a pillow is an incomparable beauty. If Sarah will only listen to his perfectly reasonable explanation, James is sure that he can capture her heart...forever.

Contains mature themes.

Awful Story - Awful Narrator

This tale was written by a wannabe Regency author. But it just lets the whole genre down.

It’s so dire that I had to check how much longer there was to the story as, the villain, Richard, is just about to arrange for the rape of the heroine! How is THAT a plot point in a Regency Romance!! 😡
In doing so, I read the ONLY review and learned that the ‘solution’ to this act, was for the ‘hero’ to subsequently sleep with her!!!!

NO!

So it doesn’t matter how much longer I have left in the book, I’m done! This is poor and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

The narrator cannot do credible male voices, but her English accents, whilst not great, are acceptable. However, overall it’s poor. Such a waste of time and money.

The other reviewer, left recommendations for alternative Great reads. I shall do the same:
Georgette Heyer - is the queen of RR
Stella Riley - next best (imo)
Mary Balogh - a wealth of great stories
Stephanie Lauren’s - strong female characters

Awful, appalling, NOT a regency romp!

I bought this, excited to find a new series of sexy regency romances. Huge mistake and I regret wasting credits on 3 more of them. Characters were shallow, poorly motivated and implausible. Heroine was an idiot who'd prefer to believe anything anyone told her than trust her own eyes and instincts. Brainless and I didn't care what happened to her.
Having said that, I was shocked to hear her being raped by the villain. Explicit sexual violence should come with a warning! And then the author apparently thought it made sense to treat it as extra incentive to make love with the rescuing hero. NOT likely.
On top of this was the disaster of the narration. Intonation with constant emphasis on final syllables was jarring and uncomfortable.
Nowhere at all was this funny or charming or enjoyable - and yes I did finish it, unwilling to believe it wouldn't get better! Try Georgette Heyer, Kasey Michaels or Maggie Fenton. Avoid this like the plague.
Just one listener's opinion of course...
