Summary

In Fifty Things That Made the Modern Economy, the revolutionary, acclaimed book, radio series and podcast, best-selling economist Tim Harford introduced us to a selection of 50 radical inventions that changed the world. Along the way he entertained us with a myriad of great stories and revealed some of the most surprising landmarks in our history.

Now, in this new audiobook, Harford once again brings us an array of remarkable, memorable, curious and often unexpected 'things' - inventions that have significantly moved the needle on our journey to the complex world economy we live in today.

From the brick, blockchain and the bicycle to fire, the factory and fundraising and from Solar PV and the pencil to the postage stamp, this brilliant and enlightening collection resonates, fascinates and stimulates. It is a wonderful blend of insight and inspiration from one of Britain's finest non-fiction storytellers.

Very good, but not Tim's best book

Stories, as always, are brilliant. It seems however that some of the inventions were not that relevant, while the others were crucial. Worth listening to though.

Lots of history and innovation lessons. Narrated beautifully.

So much background story to a lot of things that we don't think much about today. And brilliant narration, very engaging story telling. Would highly recommend to someone interested in history and innovation.

Good continuation.

Good continuation from the last fifty things. I was hoping that one of these on the list would surprise me though which it didn't unfortunately. Reading's serviceable but not fantastic.

50 more fascinating stories

Having loved the first "Fifty Things That Made The Modern Economy", I preordered this as soon as I could, and finished it yesterday. Another satifsying glimpse into items that we take for granted, or had forgotten their contribution.
