About this listen

The BRAND NEW pulse-pounding cat & mouse thriller from INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER Gemma Rogers

How can one 12-hour night shift be so deadly?

I loved the anonymity, flexibility and solitude that working the night shift at Storage Queen gave me.

The unsociable hours paid well, helping me fund my university degree and giving me a quiet place to study while the world slept peacefully in their warm, cozy beds. It was the perfect job for me.

But that Friday night proved to be more than I bargained for when a man walked through the door, dragging a large suitcase.

My immediate instincts told me something was wrong.

That’s when my ordeal began.

I just had to make it through the night shift.

A pacy, heart stopping thriller for the fans of Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

Gemma is a great writer, and I love her books. Being honest, this was not my favourite. If you are, like myself, a fan of her Domestic Suspense novels, you will probably feel that this lacks character development throughout. Ironically, the main character almost starts to feel more real at the very end, especially in the Epilogue. The diabetes awareness aspect was positive.

Pure horror

I enjoyed reading a book set in the unique setting of a 24 hour storage warehouse. It made for a creepy and claustrophobic feel and was a bit different than the usual thriller environment. I enjoy books that centre on just a few characters and places without you having to read through lots of backstories before settling into the action. I also enjoyed the added complication of Type 1 Diabetes thrown into the mix. Being a Type 1 myself and with a Type 1 child
it's great to see a book that may bring much needed awareness to the unrelenting difficulties of managing life with the condition and it highlights the fear that most of us Type 1's have of ever being trapped somewhere without your life sustaining insulin and sugar. For me it added that extra sense of real panic and peril. Although for readers with no experience of Type 1 that terror may be more difficult to understand, hopefully it still helps to bring some awareness of the challenges and complexities of living with the condition.
I will be looking out for more books by this author

unique setting made this a great read

Most boring book I’ve ever heard. A game of cat & mouse. Love Gemma Roger’s books but not a fan of this one

8 hours il never get back

I love this author but this book did not land for me at all. It was way longer than it needed to be so it just dragged and was boring and repetitive. The lead character was so annoying and did so many stupid things, ignoring obvious things she should have done. I stuck it out to the end but, for me, it just never took off.

Too long, frustrating & annoying lead character

This has got to be the most stressful book I’ve ever listened too.. but do not let that put you off! Storytelling was fab and the story gripped me from the start.. would def recommend.. but maybe not at nighttime as your blood pressure will keep you awake!

Stressful

A very silly, disappointing and long winded story. If I had read this before the other books ,then I wouldn't have read any others. save your money!

usually love this author.
