CIA operations officer Michael Dunne is tasked with infiltrating an Italian news organization that smells like a front for an enemy intelligence service. Headed by an American journalist, the self-styled bandits run a cyber operation unlike anything the CIA has seen before. Fast, slick, and indiscriminate, the group steals secrets from everywhere and anyone, and exploits them in ways the CIA can neither understand nor stop.
Dunne knows it’s illegal to run a covert op on an American citizen or journalist, but he has never refused an assignment and his boss has assured his protection. Soon after Dunne infiltrates the organization, however, his cover disintegrates. When news of the operation breaks and someone leaks that Dunne had an extramarital affair while on the job, the CIA leaves him to take the fall. Now a year later, fresh out of jail, Dunne sets out to hunt down and take vengeance on the people who destroyed his life.

A juvenile wet dream
I didn't research the author, however he is either of a certain age or channelling the 1960s in his gender stereotypes...
Our hero/protagonist is a former CIA officer who was unfairly scapegoated and betrayed and has just been released for jail. He sets up a cyber defence company avenging innocent people who have been targeted by hackers. He is then contacted by a shadowy organisation who want to help him get revenge and clear his name. So far so good..
He is astonishingly swift and successful in getting results for his clients in circumstances so thin on technical details you start to wonder whether the author knows anything about computers at all.
Instead we hear far too much about the physical details of his wife, who he met when she literally swooned into his arms away from a French man who was intimidated by our hero's presence. She is lovely but not so bright as to be threatening and puts family first. Despite the fact he claims to love her he goes off on a mission when she is 7 months pregnant and becomes obsessed by a Swiss woman he meets in a bar when he is supposed to be undertaking important spying business for the CIA. He abandons his spying duties to stalk her outside a bank. Astonishingly she doesn't tell him to **** off, despite the fact she is beautiful and glamorous and he is a ginger headed dweeb.
Turns out she is into both women and men and invites him to an exclusive party attended by beautiful young glamorous women who get off with other women. Normally men are not allowed to attend but he is allowed to watch.
At this point I could stand it no longer and switched off. This book might be okay for a nerdy 14 year old boy but I fear even a 14 year old boy probably has more computing knowledge than this author. Anyone else..nope nope nope..
