About this listen
When Rome transgresses upon his father's domain that lays between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, Pacorus, a prince of the Parthian Empire, is sent to exact revenge. After a string of victories, Pacorus and his men are captured in Cappadocia, clapped in chains, and sent to Italy to live out the rest of their days as slaves.
But fate intervenes and Pacorus and his companions are saved from a living hell by a renegade gladiator named Spartacus. In gratitude, Pacorus agrees to help Spartacus build his army as Rome musters its legions to crush the slave uprising. And so begins an epic adventure of glory and savagery played out across the length and breadth of Italy, as Spartacus defeats the armies of Rome and Pacorus leads his horsemen to victory after victory.
But will Pacorous and the slave army escape from Italy, and will he win the love of the fierce and proud Gallia before the most powerful man in Rome, Marcus Licinius Crassus, takes the field against Spartacus?

Loving this series
I am so hoping there are more of this series on audio books very soon. Great combination of author & narrator really brings the book to life. I listen to books every day while working & enjoy most I choose to listen to, but this is one of the best. If you like the Roman era books, this is great to the point I don't want to switch it off.

A Parthian prince’s unusual perspective of his battles at the sides of Spartacus.
Absolutely fascinating although I doubt a lot of Pakorus’ tale is true. I enjoyed every single moment of this book.

incredible
to have a tale from the parthian perspective so well written was fascinating, linked to the legend of spartacus inspiring, the battles are bloody and spectacular, but it's the daily life of parthian and roman that gripped me. Michael page is an excellent narrator with a plethora of voices adding life to innumerable characters. so why are there only 3 of the books in series on audio, I would purchase them all as this is the third time I've listened to the 3 available,

One complaint
The reading, story, was terrific the only complaint is the chapters in the book are 39 but when you are listening there are only 19 which doesn't really matter but sometimes on a phone you can turn on the book in error and it is hard to find the chapter that you were on if they don't match the book. But still a great book can't wait to listen to the other two

Good overall story, weak development
the story and link to history is good, but the characters are 2-dimensional and the development limited

Not really on the mark
Bit of a yarn. Two errors stood out the whole time. A Prince raised from childhood to lead an army, leaves a cohort of cavalry on a beach in enemy territory without setting any scouts. Not likely to happen. As a corollary, the 'hero' never learns a thing, ignores warnings and generally behaves like a spoilt child.
Secondly, what is it with the narrator's pronouciation? A plate is something to eat from: a plait (pronounced plat) is a method of tying back hair. I cannot count the number of times characters have plates hanging down their backs
