Summary

Twenty tales of terror and suspense, brought to you by sinister storyteller Vincent Price.

Horror legend Vincent Price presents an anthology of eerie, unsettling tales with a devilish twist - some purportedly based on his own adventures, others narrated by him in his own inimitable style.

Listen to his horrifying accounts of an unnerving piscatorial experience down under, a violinist with very special hands, a Bonfire Night party when a bullying father disappeared and a secretary's murderous revenge. Here, too, are the spine-chilling stories of a beloved cat with an unusual inheritance, a scientist whose experiments on his own son lead to unforeseen danger and a phoney clairvoyant and her client, who seeks a preview of eternity....

Among the star casts are Garard Green, Peter Cushing, Bill Kerr, Coral Browne, Christopher Bidmead, Adrienne Corri, Betty Huntley-Wright, Freddie Jones, Edward Woodward, Annette Crosbie, Maurice Denham and Hywel Bennett.

Old School Noir Blast From The Past

Not too horrifying by today’s explicit standards, Vincent Price was a fixture of my childhood,, along with the rest of the Hammer Horror stable and so offering up some long missed stylistic florishes.

The Price is right (Almost)

Definitely a great read for the spooky season, with Vincent Price being the key highlight of these radio plays.

It's worth your attention, even though some stories vary heavily compared to others. It seemed to me that nothing would top the 2nd story and by the last five you notice a complete lack of Vincent as well as the ambience of the play.

It's worth your time but don't think every single one of them will be a hit.

Brilliant!

Absolutely loved this eclectic collection of stories. Reminded me a little of a radio version of Tales of the Unexpected.

Magnificent!

Superb. Simply superb. I had been hoping that the BBC would issue this complete collection on CD (previously only publishing four tales on CD). Anyways, here they are - eerie, chilling and spine-tingling. It makes no difference how many times I listen, I still flinch, wince and squirm. A Radio Hammer House of Horrors! 👻😱 Enjoy!

Classic atmospheric old stuff, superb.

Easy on the ear narration, stories for dark nights in a warm dark room, great entertainment.

Dated and predictable.

I’m a massive Vincent Price fan and loved his narration of the short stories. But the stories themselves were very predictable and dated. There were a couple that stood out from the rest and were very good, but on the whole, not very scary. Disappointing.
