About this listen

South London in the 1930s...and Mrs Hilda Jones is fed up with her dull husband. She thought marrying would liven him up, but after 25 years he's just as boring as the day she married him and now she wants to lead her own life. Her newly married daughter, Olive, is shocked, but Hilda is adamant.

Not worth a credit...disappointing

Struggled to finish...have enjoyed all other books read to date by writer...but not this.. this was very odd. Narration disappointing too.

Not great

I really did not pay due attention to the fact that this was so short. I like a longer story - for a paid credit - so my fault entirely for not looking properly. However, I’d have struggled with this particular story being any longer, as it was not the best. I found the characters annoying, the tale rather bland and insubstantial (although I loved Horace!) so I was glad to finish.
Could probably have done with Annie Aldington reading as she masters different gender voices really well; sadly this narrator didn’t, imo.
