Age gap romance
Jasper lives with his friend Lacy, who seems to be in love with him. When tragedy strikes, it brings an older man, a wealthy and famous writer into his life. It’s a tragedy but also brings two souls together. Great narration by David Allen.

A Compelling and Emotional Story
I have listened to several audio books that David Allen Vargo has performed for Rick R. Reed and have enjoyed all of them. The Secrets We Keep is an emotional and compelling story. I knew from the blurb that there would be a sad event but it brought the two MCs together in an unusual way and I loved it.
Rick R. Reed’s writing never fails to make me feel a lot of emotions and they are almost always thought-provoking; The Secrets We Keep was no exception.
This is no insta-love story and I enjoyed the emotional journey that this audiobook took me on. David Allen Vargo’s audio performance contains great sound effects that I think add to the story and I enjoy listening to his voice.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

A Story of Love and Healing
The Secrets We Keep is a standalone novel that left me feeling a lot of emotions. The book deals with some heavy topics, including the loss of loved ones, troubled family relationships, and the fallout from secrets. The main characters are connected by their love of Lacy and I really liked how that connection to and love of Lacy was so strong throughout the story. However, Jasper and Rob’s relationship may have started due to their Lacy connection but it bloomed into something strong and lovely through their own efforts. I enjoyed watching them, especially Jasper, grow and developed throughout the book.
The audiobook was narrated by David Allen Vargo who does a wonderful job with both the vocal performance and the audio production. The book was engaging and immersive which enhanced the story.

Heartwarming, A Marvelous Performance by Vargo!
I'm so glad Rick R. Reed is releasing these previously published books in audio! Reed has found a terrific narrator, David Allen Vargo, and whoever is producing them is doing a fantastic job with them. There is wonderful atmosphere, and Vargo has an amazing range of voices which suit the characters beautifully.
Rick R. Reed is an amazing storyteller, and I enjoyed the way he crafts The Secrets We Keep. By alternating between Jasper and Robert’s stories, we gradually get the details of what drives (and haunts) these two.
Poignant, hopeful, and heartwarming. Just lovely.

Excellent Story & Narration🎧 Riveting & Emotional
Rick R. Reed and David Allen Vargo create one amazing artistic partnership, with both putting so much heart into their work, Reed with his words and Vargo bringing it all to life from the pages to your ears. Both are gifted artists and amazing at what they do. This beautifully written and plotted story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. The book starts out with the beginning to the end, with Rob at a crossroads in his life, and has an epiphany of sort and what he chooses next can be a life changer. Jasper Warren may not have had a lot going for him in his life, but he had his best friend, Lacy, that is until she does not wake up after a night of partying. Her death leaves him heartbroken and second guessing himself. The one thing that come out of her death was he got to meet her Uncle Rob who he bonded with and are becoming friends. It surprised him that Lacy never mentioned her uncle since he is a well-known author and Jasper loves his books. Rob went back home to California, but the two kept in touch and he finally convinced Jasper to come visit him. And when Jasper overhears a conversation,he is taken aback by what he heard and needed to leave, but Rob would follow him, hoping he would let him explain. Reed takes you on an amazing rollercoaster ride, an emotional one, and I loved the complexity and layers of the story and the characters, too. There is plenty of drama, some angst, surprising twists, and a romance that seems so real. Rick R. Reed, thank you for another amazing story, love the originality and how it all played out.
🎧📚🎧And for outstanding narration, David Allen Vargo is an entertaining storyteller and his narration enhances this already amazing book to another level. I love how he takes each role and makes it his own and is exceptional at covering both the male and female roles. He handles the back-and-forth dialogue with ease and is great with the inner dialogue and reflections. too. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and has you feeling every single one. David Allan Vargo is a versatile voice artist and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

This was a sad, emotion filled story of 2 men brought together by grief with a sweet HEA. It was low heat and a slow burn and a bit angsty as neither man felt really worthy of love. I was sucked into this story from the very start and could not put it down. Both characters were wonderful and I loved them together. There is alot of resistance despite instant chemistry and I liked that it was a realistic slow burn as they developed a strong connection. I absolutely loved this story and would recommend it. This is the 6th story that I hace read by this author after just recently discovering them and I have loved them all. Looking forward to reading more by them.
I am so glad I got to listen to this story. The Narrator was a pleasure to listen to. He expressed all the emotions and brought the story to life. He gave each of the characters their own distinct voice that suited each of them perfectly and made the story easy to follow.

Full of surprises
The narration by David Allan Vargo was perfect. Jasper is going through life happy with his pretty unexciting life. He has a roommate Lacy who means the world to him. They are pretty close or so he thought until an event happens that turns Jasper’s life upside down. The girl he lived with and thought he knew is totally different that her true identity.
When Jasper meets Lacy’s uncle, he finds out the girl he has lived with, shared so much with is totally not who he would have ever thought she would be. As Jasper gets to know Rob he also reexamines his life.
Growing up Jasper faced plenty of tragedy. What happened to his family would be enough to scar anyone for life. Jasper’s feelings for his dad change as he sees things from a grownup perspective.
This story has a few unexpected twists that made me and a great ending

incredible
This was an incredible listen that was so well written, i loved the characters and the storyline the way they interacted and their story and the struggles that they faced made this so realistic. It wasn’t an easy journey for them and this made listening to their story both rewarding and hard. It is full of emotion and hope and the narration gives it so much more.

A lot of secrets that lead to a HEA
Rob and Jasper meet during a really sad event that affects the life of both of them. Despite their age gap, they feel a sudden connection, and from that moment, even though they belong to different worlds - Jasper struggles to pay his bills, and Rob is a famous writer - they continue seeing and getting to know each other.
There are secrets hiding between them though, and that causes a lot of pain to both parts. Anyway, after a lot of troubles, they find a way to their HEA.
I really loved this book, Rick R. Reed, has a special talent to bring characters to life with his words, and makes you become a part of the story itself. It feels like you know the people he’s talking about and gives you the possibility to participate in their lives, laughing and crying.
In this case, I listened to an audiobook, narrated by David Allen Vargo, who made an amazing job giving life and voice to the different characters. He also produced a “special” audiobook, with some special effects that usually you do not find in this kind of product, but it suited the story, and I found it great.
Absolutely recommended!

Loved it, Great story, excellent narration.
Well written, age gap, rich/poor, hurt/comfort and a huge amount of no self-worth from both the main characters.
Both have pasts that we gradually find out through snippets, we jump back and forth between the two main characters, and i loved that their lives and pasts were drip fed to me.
The characters both had good backstories, a lot of hurt, and you immediately feel for them.
It's only at the end, like in every well-written book, that all the missing pieces come together.
It is such a moving book that causes all your emotions to the surface, and I would highly recommend it.
David Allen Vargo was great at distinguishing between characters. The narration was excellent.
