Summary

1850s Shropshire. Returning to her mother's birthplace at the age of 18, Beatrice Ashford encounters a complex family she barely knows. Her great-grandmother Queenie adores her, but the privileged social position of Beatrice's family as masters of the local brickworks begins to make her uncomfortable. And then she meets Owen Malone: handsome, different, refreshing - and from a class beneath her own.

They fall for each other fast, but an old family feud and growing industrial unrest threatens to drive them apart. Can they overcome their different backgrounds? And can Beatrice make amends for her family's past?

Loved it. Both books were brilliant.

This story caught me from the very first, the excellent narration of Lu Corfield was definitely the reason as well as the story. I actually looked for other books she may have narrated but was gutted to find there were no more. I will now go and try to find another story as good as this one but as naratters, I fear that may prove difficult.

Interesting story

It’s always good to learn about the past the double standards and atrocities that took place the only thing that spoilt it for me really was the narration. I feel the the lead was made to sound childish where in fact she was a strong woman and the voices kept dipping in and out other than that I did enjoy it

Brilliant. Highly recommend

Both books are amazing. The characters brought to life by the wonderful Lu the narrator. I can’t wait to get the final book in the trilogy and complete the story of Ironbridge. I recommend this trilogy to others.
