Summary
Would you know if you lived next door to a serial killer? Emma Kenny - psychologist and true crime expert - reveals the chilling true stories of killers who hide in plain sight.
Narrated by the author, this audiobook also includes an exclusive bonus Q&A with Emma.
Taking readers on a journey into the dark side of humanity, Emma Kenny explores the ingredient list of experiences that turns regular people into murderous monsters, looking at crimes that shook the world.
From Ted Bundy to Joanna Dennehy, Richard Trenton Chase to Aileen Wuornos and many more besides, Emma explores the crime scenes and criminal minds of some of the most notorious serial killers of our time. She also unveils shocking stories of lesser-known killers that even the most dedicated true crime fan will be surprised by.
What unites all of these killers is the ability to slip into society. They look just like you and me. Some were married or parents, conscientious neighbours, teachers or fixtures of their community. Join Emma in this compelling exposé of their depraved world to understand what motivates them and what they look for in a victim. Then maybe you'll be able to spot the serial killer next door...

Full of empathetic information.
It’s very rare to hear horrific information portrayed with such empathy and understanding towards the victim as well as explore the perpetrators mind. EK has absolutely smashed this. Excellent listening. X

You gave all of the victims so much justice.
Hi Emma. I’ve just finished listening to this book and I loved it! I love the way you give such a detailed insight into the psychology of these such evil and twisted monsters, as utterly tragic as each and every one of these cases really are, it’s also really interesting to hear what might cause these individuals to become who they are. But most of all I really love how you make sure that each and every victim is 100 percent recognised and remembered as well as all of the friends and families of the victims! I also listen to your YouTube videos and you honestly do a truly amazing job! Top work!

Excellent
I've seen the show, I watch the channel and now I've listened to the book. Emma Kenny is a crime goddess. But she's also incredibly compassionate, empathetic and keeps the victims at the forefront. I love that this book focuses on crimes from different countries and, whilst some of the big cases are in here, some of the perpetrators are lesser known. No Dahmer, Neilson, Wests to be found here. But you may learn more than you knew about Keys, Denehey and Wurnos. Definitely recommended.

Straight to the point but empathetic too.
I’ve been an avid listener of Emma Kenny for well over a year now and to say that I’ve rinsed the majority if not all of her content would be an understatement. What stands out to me the most is her ability to address these Cases in a way that is empathic, honourable and compassionate to the victims whilst still pursuing the nitty gritty of the perpetrators. The need for answers is something that us True Crime listeners may relate to and her way of engaging the audience is something to be marvelled. She is not only a fantastic human being but one who aims to address the fundamental flaws in our Justice System whilst honouring those who have to survive it and its effects. This was hard to stop listening to and if you’re interested in knowing the potential ‘Hows’ and ‘Whys’ like me then this, is for you,
