About this listen
A chilling thriller brought back to life with enhanced audio, featuring new narration by Hillary Huber.
“Koontz is brilliant.” - Chicago Sun-Times
An ordinary parking lot in southern California. Christine Scavello and her six-year-old son are accosted by a strange old woman.
"I know who you are," the woman snaps at the boy. "I know what you are."
A scream, a threat - and then a grotesque act of violence. Suddenly Christine's pride and joy, her only son, is targeted by a group of religious fanatics. They've branded him the Antichrist. They want to kill him. And they are everywhere...

OK Story, Poor Narration
This is, in my opinion, one of Dean Koontz’s less good novels. The story is rather similar to some of his other titles, and I think I’ve been spoiled by them. The narrator does not help as she is stilted and wooden,

shocking narration

Duration slow paced
I love dean koontz by far my favourite author. The premise is great in this book. My only problem is the pace. Not enough is going on with development of the boys character.

could the twist be real?
the readers voice was nasal and I found that a little annoying, the story was interesting however at times the descriptive paragraphs went on too much and held the rhythm up.

The stupidity of humanity when sense of reasoning is ignored
I hang on to the end just to know what happened to poor little Joey and his mother and Charlie, the detective. Good they survived.
The story was unduly long due to so many unnecessary boring repetitions of imaginations, weather conditions etc.

Definitely of it's time (1980's)
A somewhat predictable story to it's conclusion with few surprises. I think the story has not aged particularly well. the narration at times sounds very much like it is being read.

Disappointing Story
I have read and listened to a lot of Dean Koontz books but this is the first story I was going to stop listening too. The book just didn't flow well. They can't all be winners, was just disappointed it wasn't up to his usual standard of writing
