Cxggujn bjjjjb as boring as the story that I have just listened to. Not to be recommended

Quite boring. Managed to get to the end but still continued being boring. Too much information about archeological catacombs etc

I think it’s set in the 60’s I think you have to have a bit of a Library/academic background to fully appreciate it and it really had no satisfactory conclusion . However it was a very gentle listen and made me think of glamorous film sets - a bit daytime television for the ears.

Whether it was the not very good narrator or the lack of wit in the writing, this was not up to the standard of the Peabody books.

The narrator is very monotone and this is read, not performed as audible has finally realised needs to be done.

Within seconds you can tell that this is not a real human being reading the story… Literally within two sentences. It is unlistenable-to. Clearly Audible can offer this title in the library included with a subscription, because they never paid a proper voice actor. Avoid.

So boring and narrator dreadful

My apologies this story could be good I think but it’s intolerable just because the narration says Jacqueline every 3 minutes but pronounced as ‘jac-qwe-lin’ and the ‘qwe’ part grates time after time after time - I cannot bear it any longer.

I adore Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody series. One of which was narrated by a different narrator, which was awful. I realised that I enjoyed the books to an enormous part because of the original narrator. Which brings me to the point I am making, the narrator of this book has made it dreary, obtuse and lifeless. It has taken me a while to understand why I don't care about the story or the characters in it, but I think I have it now. I'm so glad I didn't waste a credit as it is included in the new bonus collection for members that Audible have instituted, a fantastic idea! I won't feel bad about returning this book!
