About this listen

When the evidence points to two realities, which will you believe?

Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Caught between two mind-blowing possibilities, Dr. Veronica Chapel leaves her job as a high school science teacher to search for answers with her old friend Malcolm Feldman, a determined journalist, and Ada Park, a brilliant astronomer. Oh, and it also happens to be Dr. Chapel's one chance to redeem her destroyed scientific reputation, no pressure...

As the group digs deeper, they uncover layers of mystery that challenge their grasp of the universe and their place in it. With time running out and the world hanging in the balance, they must navigate a tangled web of corporate secrets, government interference, and ethical dilemmas on a high-stakes journey to uncover a truth that will upend our understanding of the cosmos—and ourselves.

The Signal is directed, edited, and scored by Mark Henry Phillips.

Loved the start and the performance of the cast but the ending was a let down. Our main character didn’t really overcome her main character flaw or grow in any meaningful way. The start and even the set up to the end raised some interesting questions so it’s still a good listen. Just a shame as a better ending could have pushed this from good to great.

Good start , average ending

Overall I enjoyed this short, but fast paced story. I felt that the production was very good. I felt that this story deserved a better ending.

It had potential.

I enjoyed the way the story unfolded and how it made me think about how I would have reacted. A great short story.

Another good full cast production, story concept kept me interested and not too taxing to keep up. Worth a listen.

Interesting story

A fantastic story, beautifully written with very poignant sentiment without beating you over the head with it. The voice acting, especially by Paget Brewster was truly incredibly. It truly sucked you in and made you feel every emotion even when she wasn’t speaking just letting out a breath for example. All in all a fantastic story which flew by. Highly recommend ;;’x

I didn't think this had a sudden or unsatisfactory ending as other people felt. It was well-acted , thoughtful, and very enjoyable.

Very engaging!

Strong start, excellent production values and fantastic voice actors.

This started really strong and about halfway through I think it just fell off and went in an admittedly unpredictable direction, but it felt flat. Disappointing ending and it felt a tad preachy

Wasn’t the worst audiobook I’ve listened to this year though

Excellent performance and production

This is a rather short entertaining story, in my opinion this isn't science fiction but rather something like a mystery or a simple fiction. The ending can't keep up with the good start and felt a bit stale.
Overall ok to listen to when a part of your mind is occupied with other tasks.
