About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Truth of Melody Browne, by Lisa Jewell.

Melody Browne can remember nothing before her ninth birthday. Now in her early 30s, Melody lives in the middle of London with her 17-year-old son. She hasn’t seen her parents since she left home at 15, but Melody doesn't mind. She’s better off on her own.

And then fragments of her past start to come back. At first her memories mean nothing to her, but slowly, day by day, she begins to piece together the real story of her childhood.

But with every mystery she solves, another one materialises; with every question she answers, another appears. And Melody begins to wonder if she'll ever know the truth about her past....

Compelling, sad, uplifting and very well told

The storyline jumps a little and can be confusing but stay with it. I love the friendships that Melody makes and also think the relationship with her son is wonderful. All the loose ends get tied up satisfyingly. A lovely heartwarming but devastating tale.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book!

A great twisty read which had me listening long into the night to find out Melody's story. The underlying themes were dealt with sensitively and from different angles. Would definitely recommend!

So brilliant but so sad

I loved this book. It’s brilliant! Great story and believable character, despite being highly unusual! It is very very sad though, so comes with a warning to anyone feeling sensitive. Well worth the tears though and overall left me feeling uplifted.

This was heartbreaking & feel good -another Gem from Lisa

I loved the story and the characters this book was another addictive listen.
The only thing that let this book down was the parts where the main character was a child of 5/6/7 years old and had an unbelievable understanding / vocabulary and understanding of the world - this was not true to life and was quite annoying.
Other than that a great listen

Great story but could have been better!

Loved the narrator and the story concept, but I thought the ending could have been so much better. Still a great read, just not her best
