About this listen
****
The Dark Lord is dead, and now a new world can be built.
The impossible has happened. The Lord Ruler is dead has been vanquished. But so too is Kelsier the man who masterminded the triumph. The awesome task of rebuilding the world has been left to his protege Vin; a one-time street urchin, now the most powerful Mistborn in the land.
Worryingly for her Vin has become the focus of a new religion, a development that leaves her intensely uneasy. More worryingly still the mists have become unpredictable since the Lord Ruler died and a strage vaprous entity is stalking Vin.
As the siege of Luthadel intensifies the ancient legend of the Well of Ascension offers the only glimmer of hope. But no-one knows where it is or what it can do...

This second book was more 'political' and 'scholarly' than the first book, with less emphasis on allomancy than the first one, but it was just as gripping and exciting, while giving us more insight into the characters and the nature of the landscape of the Final Empire.
Michael Kramer reads the books wonderfully and is totally captivating.
I also love the fact that it's child friendly, and hasn't turned into soft porn like some other sequels I've read recently... While it's not aimed at younger children, you could listen to it with them around without worrying. It's a great book for teens and adults.
Awesome

Story – 4/5
Brandon Sanderson manages to develop his unique and excellent magic system into something even bigger. The main characters become stronger, and you learn a lot more about things identified in the first novel. The battles and fights involving Allomancy also take a step up.
The characters develop a lot less in this book, but enough to still keep you interested and entertained. There is a lot more politics and investigation involved in this story though that outweighs the loss of character development; creating a more detailed and intriguing world. There are also introductions of new creatures/beings.
The issue I had at times with this novel is that it felt too long at times. There was a lot of pondering and overlong conversations that allowed my mind to drift, so I had to keep rewinding to keep up. All in all though, it was worth persisting, as the ending is action packed and surprising and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Performance – 4.5/5
Michael Kramer is one of the very best audiobook narrators out there – he portrays sadness, happiness, comedy, action and all other scene types masterfully and he makes the enjoyment of the story far easier than most narrators. His voice acting is also superb. Each character has a subtly distinctive voice, and you will definitely not be confused with who is who in a conversation.
If you enjoyed his narration in the first book, you will not be disappointed; he is consistently excellent in the entire trilogy.
Overall – 4/5
Apologies for the star ratings not matching the written review, I am forced to round halves on Audible.
A bit long, but what an ending
