Good
I have read most of the authors work, and liked most of it though I somehow couldn’t get into the Witch books. I fan of the vampire and werewolf genres so thought I’d see what Rice could do with it. It’s a good intro to her universe and in her familiar style, I liked her interpretation of the lore and mythology, and the story was quite good. Someone said it reads like an origin story, though most of her books are origin stories to some extent. I have previously read this book and it’s sequel in paperback but it was a long time ago so I thought I’d give the audiobook a go, the narrator did a pretty good job.

The Wolf Gift
A very nail biter. Loved every moment. What a great novice Ann Rice really is.

Back to her best.
I came to this after reading the Mayfair witches trilogy, and this was much more like the Anne Rice of “chronicles” fame. The writing kept me engaged and although you don’t go as deep into the character as some of her vampires, there was enough to go with. Enjoyed it.

Mostly disappointed
Struggled with this title. I have loved Rice's work in the past but this felt very novice in comparison. The best part of the story comprises the last few chapters. Unfortunately I can't recommend this book. McLarty's performance is good & easy enough to listen to.

Brilliant descriptive writing
This book is so good it’s my GO TOO book when I’m low, the fabulous voice of Ron and Anne’s writing marry with such rich perfection .
You absolutely must have this book and it’s sequel The wolves of midwinter... very beautiful exciting books.

Not The Best
Little disappointed with this book, it reads like a superhero genesis story. It's not bad perse but not what I have come to expect from Anne Rice

Really good
very good, though difficult to like the seemingly forced voice switches between characters. that was the only mildly irritating thing

Drivel
I've loved Ann Rice for years but this is possibly the most boring book I've ever listened to.
Worst of all I downloaded the second book at the same time.
It only gets worse.
The audio doesn't make things any better with the most laughable English Accent.
Very disappointing 😱
