About this listen

What if the perfect life you envy was rotten to the core?

Three brand-new friends. Three very different families. Way too many secrets.

Gisela, Sally and Kate become close when they move into the same new housing estate. But behind their shiny front doors, each has something to hide.

Gisela’s Facebook profile is plastered with photos of her high-achieving son - #soproud; her teenage daughter - #bestfriends; and her gorgeous husband - #lovemyhubs. She’s the envy of everyone she knows, but how long can she keep covering up the truth?

Sally is married to her soul mate - or so the champagne glasses glinting in front of another tropical sunset seem to suggest. But what will it take for her friends to realise the life she claims to adore is breaking her heart?

Kate is a single mum. She uses Facebook to keep an eye on her teenage daughter but claims her own life is too boring to post anything herself. But maybe Kate wants to sit below the radar because she doesn’t want anyone to look too closely and start asking questions about her past....

Three lives collide in this gripping story about friendship, motherhood and marriage and the façade of perfection people present to the world.

I’ve read/listened to all of Kerry’s books and they never disappoint. What I love most about her writing is the realistic nature of the storylines and the characters are always so likeable. This is another fantastic novel and wonderfully narrated.

Another beauty from Kerry Fisher

Fantastic book. I knew before the end of the first chapter I was going to enjoy this. Loved the way each chapter was from a different person’s perspective, introducing each character and seeing how their lives intertwined. I felt Kate’s pain, Grisella’s excitement and later anxiety, Sally’s hurt and loved how their stories all came together. I never wanted it to end!

Brilliant!

Loved it! Listened to the entire book in one day!!! House is gleaming lol as I clean whilst I listen! Definitely worth a read! I am a proper book worm but normally gravitate towards crime thrillers but this one caught my eye. The story is based around 3 women and their portrayal of their lives online vs IRL! The characters where realistic and relatable and the narrator captured their personalities perfectly. It was easy to listen to and easy to follow. Some narrators are wooden and their attempts at accents are so off putting they spoil the book! Not on this case! looking forward to listening to more! But maybe in a day or two, once I've restocked on cleaning supplies! lol

Brilliant! current, honest read!

This is the first review I have ever written which is a measure of how good this book is.

A book that really held my attention because elements of it I really identified with.

Really liked the characters and the sheer humanness of them.

Really enjoyable book

Kerry writes such compelling reading/listening. I have now listened to most of her books and always feel disappointed when the last chapter finishes. I have a 17 year old daughter myself and could really identify with so much of what was written! Totally recommend anyone to read her books. Keep writing Kerry you have a gift and love your books.

So true to life and sucked me in from the first chapter!

I loved this book so much. Reality vs living a lie on social media. fab!

A thought provoking read.

Really loved this book. From the start I was hooked. Searing honesty yet warmth and wry humour.
At the beginning I found it a little confusing trying to remember who was who but it soon settled into my psyche, thanks to an excellent reader.
A couple of events were perhaps a coincidence too far but the drama and tension created by these made up for that. It didn’t detract from my need to keep listening.
I do feel this book will appeal more to the female reader, in fact am sure of it, but that’s ok.
No spoilers ...just thoroughly recommend this book.
As I said, performance was excellent too. Captured the different characters well.
Looking forward to reading more.

I haven't read/ listened to a Kerry Fisher novel before and wasn't sure if I would like this. However it was a great listen - I liked hearing all the different character perspectives and found there was quite a lot of suspense in the story. I also thought it ended really well. Interesting slant showing the social media world as opposed to reality, very pertinent to our times. Will be looking up more Kerry Fisher books now!

Really enjoyed this
