About this listen
Daisy meets Adam on their first day of university. Immediately, they become friends. But when tongues wag and their relationship is questioned, Adam shares his secret with Daisy, who promises to stand by him. When their grandmother dies, Adam’s older brother Ryan returns from abroad, and Daisy quickly falls for him. After a troubled upbringing at the hands of a drunken mother and jailbird father, Adam and Ryan have only each other.
In adulthood, their bond holds firm, glued together by Daisy, with whom they are now both in love. Adam struggles with his secret and the fear of losing Daisy. He is besotted....
Soon, the past starts to influence his choices. Ryan sees everything in black and white, living in a military world that shields him from the demons of his past, bringing order to his life. And in the middle is Daisy, who loves them both and makes a promise to each. When tragedy strikes, can she find happiness?

Kept me entertained
The female voice was a little lacking, but otherwise I really enjoyed it. The narrator was good and the story kept me listening. Really quite pleasant.

A very long book for the quality of content
I have listened to a few books by this author - all of which I very much enjoyed. This one disappointed me.
The plot is quite good, but doesn’t require 14 hours to get the story across. There is far too much time spent talking about trees and God and not getting to the point. The main female character’s personality is insufferable and ‘her’ accent irritating. Okay to have playing in the background while you go about your day, but if you’re looking for something gripping; this isn’t it.

not her best
I found the story too long. Too much time given to mundane stuff and the story was too slow. I had to keep skipping bits. Narration is okay but the voice for Daisy is simply awful and I had to skip her bits too. Still managed to follow the plot though. skip this one and go to 'Over my Shoulder'- simply brilliant!

Nice story but predictable
A lovely story but very predictable and a bit long winded! Well read although I found Daisy irritating.

Too contrived
I felt the story dragged along, Adam this, Ryan that until the idea of Daisy having baby with Adam. But seriously the behaviour was that of juveniles rather than people in their thirties, then the ‘ghost’ encounter (yawn) so that Ryan would put things right. The narrator’s accent for Daisy was atrocious, I couldn’t tell whether it was bad French or terrible Chinese!

Over long teen angst drama
I’ve read a few of the authors other books and enjoyed them. This was just too long, too drawn out and so self indulgent and teen angsty.
I ended up skipping some parts as they were just so boring.
I don’t like to give up on a book and persevered.
Glad I didn’t pay for it.

Way too long
Not for me. Too drawn out for drawing out’s sake. Characters never matured. More like a young teens love story. Daisy’s accent was grating, not at all sure what it was supposed to be . Chosen from the plus catalogue. I’d have returned it had I paid.

This for boring so fast
The performance was bad in my opinion. The accent, the intonation, the fact that it’s a man reading this book. Idk I didn’t finish it because it got boring so fast. What a repetitive story.
