About this listen

High school is hard enough without falling for your worst enemy.

There are plenty of words Jonah Collins could use to describe Dylan Ramírez. 'Arrogant', 'spoiled', and 'golden boy', to name a few. Likewise, Dylan thinks he has Jonah all figured out: an attention-seeking asshat who never shuts his filthy mouth.

Their friends are convinced Jonah's and Dylan's disdain for one another is just thinly veiled lust - a rumour that surges like wildfire when the two wake up in the same bed after homecoming...

Mutually horrified, Dylan and Jonah hatch a plan, and agree to use the faux pas to their advantage by fake dating. If they can stay convincing long enough to end their "relationship" in a massive staged fight, they can prove their incompatibility to their friends once and for all.

But the more time they spend together, the more their plan begins to fall apart - and the closer they come to seeing each other clearly for the first time.

A heartfelt and hilarious coming-of-age romcom for fans of Heartstopper, Casey McQuiston and Adam Silvera!

I love enemies to lovers, but not often do I see if pulled off as well as this, with such deep layers, vibrant characters and connections in the story too. It was such a beautfiul, raw, and pleasant story, I couldn't recommend it enough!!!

Wow!!

A heartwarming, heartfelt and hopeful story. Some of the tropes felt a little forced in the beginning (fake dating, enemies-to-lovers), but I was soon fully on board and believed in how the story was moving forward. Overall, a wonderful YA book that gave me all the feels.

Highly recommend!

I loved it all. A really good story line and it's written so well. Had to stop myself from finishing it all so I could get some sleep.

Amazing

Took me a while to get into the story, but I didn't regret it once I did!

I loved it! It was so nice to listen to the voices and was entertaining and interesting and had complex characters with a lot of depth, telling the story of some very real and difficult life challenges. I loved the detail of their interactions and the consistency of their personalities. Fab.

Had such depth

I loved this so much, not at all what I was expecting… So much more mature than I expected and I think the title doesn’t give the story justice and would urge people not to allow the title to put them off.

Great story!

I’ve listened to this audible book twice and enjoyed it more the second time. Such a gentle, emotion filled story with two adorable relatable characters. Glad a purchased it and would recommend to my LGBT friends who are seeking a positive escape from the usual portrayal of young gay/bi relationships

Captivating, believable, heart warming read/listen

The title of this book kind of put me off reading it for a while. They Hate Each Other just feels a bit on the nose. But thankfully I gave it a try because the inside was awesome. I had to ration my reading because I just wanted to devour the book whole.

The tropes are so well executed here. But they don't overpower the book. There's a lot more to these character's than the tropes used. They have very complex familial relationships, history that they have to work through, and they grow immensely as the book progresses.

The narrators did a brilliant job! I'm definitely going to be looking out for other books they have narrated.

Jonah and Dylan are 'enemies' but their friend group all think the animosity is just chemistry, and that they should get together. Both of them are sick of hearing this so they devise a plan to get their friends off their backs.

They're going to fake date. Let their friends think they are finally giving a relationship a go, and then have a breakup so their friends will stop pushing them together.

But you all know how this goes. Enemies-to-lovers and fake dating; Jonah and Dylan are basically destined to catch real feelings.

Hooked me and had me wanting to devour it whole!!

Good fun despite the issues involved, the characters were likeable and their chemistry believable. The narrators were good, I could probably listen to Anthony Rey Perez if he'd spoken in Spanish/Portuguese throughout, despite only understanding a few words, as his lovely voice could truly be described as gravel soaked in honey.

Issues without angst, entertaining.
