Summary
Despite the escape from Meridian - and a strike at the heart of Wolfbane - enemy forces are still advancing on all fronts. The Commonwealth, worn down by a year of hard fighting, is reaching the end of its tether while Admiral Singh, having secured control of Wolfbane, is searching for the breaking point that will shatter the Commonwealth once and for all. Fun.
Like all the other books in this series it was fun and enjoyable. With little references to other sci-fi authors. For example the character Jelal appears to be named after a character from starship troopers.
Although I found the book enjoyable the writing style has something to be desired and a lot of the main characters are somewhat two dimensional. The author reuses phrases a lot and often repeats things. The repatriation is ok at the start of the book as it allows the book to be read by someone without them having read the previous book as it give a hasty introduction to the characters but it can become annoying further into the story.
So if you are looking for a deep work of fiction then this is not the book for you. But if you are after a fun sci-fi military romp then I would definitely recommend it.
