About this listen

It's time for a brand-new kind of love story.

Are you ready?

Because Nina Mistry isn't....

Thirty Things I Love About Myself is the exuberant, witty, irresistible, hilarious and unforgettable story of Nina Mistry, who finds herself accidentally locked in a prison cell on the night of her 30th birthday, where she discovers a tatty little self-help book that will inspire her to take a long, hard look at her life, who she really is and what she wants—and to put into action a self-love journey like no other!

This is an audiobook for anyone who has ever had a self-worth wobble or is watching someone they love struggle; it is for anyone who has ever failed and got themselves back up again, or whose life has veered off the tracks. It is the audiobook your best friend would recommend you start listening to right now!

If you love emotionally intelligent, fresh, sophisticated fiction—humour and brilliantly drawn characters mixed with a clever and insightful feminist take on diversity in the media, casual sexism, racism, beauty ideals, online abuse and true self-care—the rare kinds of books that, as soon as you finish, you immediately want to pass on to the women in your life you love most, then you will love Thirty Things I Love About Myself.

I loved this audiobook - it was narrated amazingly, was so moving and funny at the same time and gets some of the themes so right. I would recommend this to all my friends and it has inspired me to love myself more.

Absolutely loved it

I loved the different characters and especially Nina's mum. It's thought provoking and covers topics that people can relate to. It was like an Indian Bridget Jones style book with Nina getting herself into all sorts of funny/sad situations.

I really enjoyed the book and would recommend.

A self help book through a comical story

I really enjoyed this book. It dealt with some very serious issues in a sensitive way, there was also humour and humility. Great characters and well narrated. I highly recommend this book!

Freshingly different

A light and funny read. The main character had me laughing out loud in some instances and her mom was so relatable. Great listen.

This was my first experience of Audible and I'm afraid the narrator totally ruined it for me. she had a nice voice quality which fitted the character of the book well, but her delivery seemed amateurish and her emphasis was constantly in the wrong place. I felt that she was not particularly familiar with the text and instead of going back and correcting these mistakes, they had just been rushed over and ignored. I have not renewed my Audible subscription.

A lovely book ruined by amateurish narration

One of the best books I’ve listened to in a while would highly recommend! Narrator is great and storyline really makes you reflect

Absolute delight

I throughly enjoyed this book as it wasn’t a formulaic Rom com. All the characters had a lot of depth, no one was pure vile or all good. I laughed out loud often and could really relate to not just the main character but also many of the others who struggled along side her. An excellent and unexpected read. If the self help book referenced isn’t a real book it should be I’m already using the manifesting technique.

Funny and relevant

Interesting concept, but a weirdly light hearted tone for some serious ideas. I think the overly dramatic and extreme reactions perhaps add to the sense of naive and overly simplistic writing.

Overly-simplistically written
