About this listen

A third collection of full-length adventures for R. Austen Freeman's great forensic detective, Dr John Thorndyke.

First, in The D'Arblay Mystery, the body of Julius D'Arblay is found beneath the surface of a shallow woodland pond, putting Thorndyke on the trail of a very calculated murder.

Then, in A Certain Dr Thorndyke, the detective investigates a theft that provoked a resolute young Englishman to flee the country, and soon discovers unexpected mysteries; while As a Thief in the Night requires him to unravel a case of murder by poison, which there appears to be not a particle of positive evidence against any individual in the victim's household.

Finally, in Mr Pottermack's Oversight, a set of footprints pique Thorndyke's interest in the disappearance of a bank employee, despite the careful planning of the ingenious and meticulous Mr Pottermack.

An excellent production :)

Another wonderful narration by Graham Scott on behalf of Voices of Today. He conveys the social standings, dialects and individual characteristics of the different people Dr John Thorndyke investigates with subtle and very pleasing distinction. I'm looking forwards to the rest of the novels (21 in total, I believe).
