About this listen

In the aftermath of a hurricane, a series of strange events plague the coastal waters off Florida. People go into the water and never return. Corpses of killer whales drift ashore, ravaged from enormous bite marks. A fishing trawler is found adrift, with a mysterious gash in its hull.

Transferred to the coastal town of Merit, police officer Leonard Riker uncovers the horrible reality of an enormous thresher shark lurking off the coast. Forty feet in length, it has taken a territorial claim to the waters near the town harbor. Armed with three-inch teeth, a scythe-like caudal fin, and unmatched aggression, the beast seeks to kill anything sharing the waters.

It sort of grows on the reader as it progresses. Not bad at all although it has many inaccuracies about boats and marine biology.

Pretty good.

If you love shark related stuff especially Jaws then you'll totally like Thresher. It knows that it's a silly concept but it has fun with it.

A Jawesome Read

Well read. Well written. Well worth the purchase.
I’m a fan of Jaws.
This is Jaws on steroids. Great characters of which I cared about/disliked/wanted to survive/wanted to be eaten.
Great monster, enough gore to quench my blood thirsty nature, and I’m very happy with my purchase.

Great gory fun

Fairly clichéd but still fun with well written characters, many of whom I enjoyed spending time with and plenty of others with fish food written all over them. Perfectly read, too.
Overall, it is good entertainment for sea monster story fans like me. It doesn't pull any surprises or add anything unique to the pantheon of sea based horror out there, but it's a good, simple listen that engrosses you into the action and the people.

If you really love the word however, then you will love this book. If not, you might want to take some pauses in between. Good story, however, however..

If you loved the jaws films (mainly the original) then do not read the book or listen to the audible its full of vile sexist comments and barely about the shark we loved in the films - listen to this instead. Totally original storyline and believable - great loveable main characters with good character developments. Amazing that it’s a thresher for once aswell. Give it a listen it’s free!!

This is what I hoped the JAWS novel was going to be!

I was running out of creature feature books on audible and decided to give Michael Cole a try and I'm glad I did! I loved this along with Megalodon Bloodbath. the creature sequences are up there with that of Steve Alten's Meg and cole succeeds where many authors in this genre fail, firstly, Making the creature a character and second, the attack sequences, which he manages to make unique and tense every time.

The performance is ok even if the reader sounds like he's going through some form of emotional distress and manages to make most of the characters sound like geriatrics, I was legitimately shocked to find the main character is only 35 after assuming he was in his late 60s for most of the book. But even with everyone sounding old and in pain he still manages to keep you engaged. Definitely looking forward to more Michael Cole. Hurry up and get his other books up audible!!

A great shark tail!

It has enough of it's own ideas to not be another Jaws clone. Great narration from Matt Godfrey.

Hugely enjoyable.
