Summary

Christmas in a Cornish seaside town, bright lights, and a hot new romance to ward off the winter storms...what could be finer? But Gideon and Lee's first festive season together is shockingly interrupted when Lee tries to rid a client's home of a malevolent presence. The ritual goes wrong, and in its aftermath Lee is strangely altered.

As well as dealing with the changes in his lover, Gideon has a sinister thread to follow, linking the haunted house with disappearances among the homeless people of Falmouth. Can love withstand what looks like a case of possession?

As the darkest night of the year comes down, Gideon finds himself locked in a battle to restore his lover's soul.

Too much sex

Good story but far too much detailed sex , I wanted a murder mystery not a sex manual !!

A nice Christmas story

I’m loving the narrator. He gives each character a defined voice that makes listening to this series a joy. I for one would very much welcome being stopped for speeding on Bodmin Moor by PC Gideon just to be read by rights (and let off with a warning 😊).

Amazing second installment

As usual Fox doesn't disappoint with her writing! the characters we know and love from the first book are back, involved in a creepy Christmas mystery. Lee is as chaotic as ever and Gideon manages to be both funny and serious! We also get to know Gids family, exorcise some evil using the power of God, and witness the growth of the romantic relationship. Do listen to the first book before this one (obviously) and enjoy the show!

Fantastic!

I really enjoyed this sequel. I will be moving onto the next instalment as soon as I've finished this review.

This book serries would make a brilliant TV show. The stories are gripping and the development of the characters feels natural from the first book. The paranormal themes are still running strong adding a sense of mystery and danger.

The narrator brings the characters to life. There acted out well with a great range of inflection and intonation, giving them such personality.

Anyone looking for a good story, that is very entertaining, sometimes lustful and occasionally creapy should deffo check this out.

Another great story

Another great paranormal mm story from Harper Fox. Wonderful writing and narration.

Again, I object to Audible Studios adding a 22 minute sample of the next book in the series to the end of the story. This gives a false running time and puts the audiobook into a higher price band.

Interesting on going story

When you start the series you are hooked just enough m/m sex to wet your appetite but the intriguing story with the myths and legends interwoven make exciting listening and I for one couldn't get enough, hope you enjoy.

A good series with great characters

I'm really enjoying the audio of this series, the characters are growing with each book as we learn more about them as they go about their lives and solve mysteries with a paranormal bent. This time, Lee is in trouble from a session gone wrong when he tries to help a woman remove a troubling presence in her house and it takes the help of Gideon's brother Ezekiel to start sorting things out. Something also seems to be haunting Lee which is not resolved so that's still to be dealt with.
The narration is very good although it has taken me a bit to get used to Gideon's voice as it's a lot more gravelly than I expected/ had in my head from reading the pixel version of the book. I'm enjoying it enough to want to get the rest in the series so I'm looking forward to making my way through the set.

A fascinating story

Not at all a standard mystery or a standard romance or a standard ghost story. There is a lot of spiritual sense but that includes all kind of feelings and beliefs and it does justice to a landscape who must have stories from the past below and how could that not leap into the present. Not horrifying though or spooky just interesting and thought provoking. Best just to follow the story and follow the feel of it. It’s a magical part of the world and a magical story which ends with the desire to get more stories in the series. The narrator does a great job to make it easy to differentiate and picture the different characters. And for a change the women don’t sound all like feeble childlike creatures. Not easy for a male voice I reckon so all the better.
