Summary

No power. No rules. No help coming.

The end of the world is just the beginning of the hunt....

Estes Park Police Chief Marcus Colton and tracker Sam "Raven" Spears have never liked one another, but when a young girl goes missing in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colton hires Spears to help find her. Their search ends after a night of catastrophic events. When word reaches Estes Park that the nation has been hit by a coordinated electromagnetic pulse attack, Colton and Spears are forced to work together again. But they quickly realize they aren’t just tracking a killer - they are tracking a madman during the middle of a war on American soil.

Halfway across the country, Senator Charlize Montgomery awakes to find the nation’s capital has gone dark. Forced to set off on foot, she treks across a city that has woken to a new world, and as the night progresses, she learns the EMP attack was just the beginning of the horror.

The explosive Trackers series is a harrowing story of survival and a realistic depiction of what an EMP attack and the aftermath might look like from former Homeland Security Disaster Mitigation Officer and New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Packed full of action, survival tips, and a unique twist on the EMP genre, the Trackers series has thrilled hundreds of thousands of listeners cross the world.

Pretty good post nuclear war/serial killer story

Good story if a little short. Excellent narration. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Excellent story

Excellent story premise. Well-rounded characters and vivid descriptive scenes. It is great to find a post-apocalyptic story without zombies as the main threat. Very realistic and thought provoking.

Interesting, and scary

I saw this book pop up on my facebook feed, and seeing as I've just started in with some End of the World/Prepper books, this one about what happens when an EMP hits the US sounded right up my alley.

I have read a good few of Nicholas's books, they're usually very well written and execute. This was no exception. The idea of such devastation happening and all of the what if's are just so scary that these kinds of books make you want to build your own bunker to be able to survive.

With this story though, you don't just get the usual End of the world. This is extremely well integrated with a serial killer. So not only do the characters have to survive nothing working in the modern world, but a guy out butchering kids and locals. This book seriously has you on the edge of your seat.

What I really enjoyed was the characters. The different POV's inside the main storyline, really went deep. We got to know all of the different characters from the get go. From Nathan and Charleese (sp) to Ravan and Sandra... there were so many supporting characters that really got under your skin too. Jake, and Colton. The little boy in the hospital, Teddy.

Oh and of course, can't forget Creek :) I think we can all relate to using and having an animal around. Creek was a big part of the story even if he never seemed talked (that might be another story haha)

The narration, I think this might have been my only slight off point. I really did enjoy the story, but at times I think there were some odd choices in character voices. It took me a while to get used to the way that particular character spoke, for instance, the President, and one other. I guess that was one reason why I didn't like these characters, so in that sense good job, but it was a little hard on the ears to get through in a day.

Thank you for the listen, and I think I'll go check out some of the others that they might have produced together.

Okay but some really annoying American accents

I had to turn the phone down because of this all cranky shouting accent sometimes which ruin the great performance

Amazing

Another audiobook from Nicholas Sansbury Smith that I love. This one is a bit different from the previous series I have listened to. It has a good mystery, with Native American parts as well as science fiction/fact. It’s scary as it could happen.
