Summary

Blaine

When my name is involved in yet another scandal, I'm told to keep my head down and my stats up. The trade deadline is looming, and I don't want to leave Chicago.

That night, I meet Alex. The guy with the bluest eyes and the kindest smile. My reputation precedes me, and he's determined to resist me, but the more time we spend together, the harder it is to deny the chemistry between us.

He's someone who might make me want to change for the better. But can we survive the slap shots that come our way, or will my scandalous past hit harder than any defenseman could?

Alex

Being a lifelong Chicago Thunder fan, I know that Blaine Olsen is trouble. Because all hockey players are. He's a notorious playboy, and I refuse to be another notch on his bedpost. But when he shows me the part of himself he keeps hidden, it gets harder to resist him.

I can't afford any distractions, though. I'm up to my eyeballs in debt, doing everything I can to keep my head—and family business—above water.

Will Blaine prove me wrong and show me a hockey player could be my Prince Charming after all?

Trade Deadline is a low angst, hockey player/fan sports romance. It has team shenanigans, fast-paced hockey, cheesy texting, no third-act break-up, and puppies. It is book one in the Chicago Thunder series and can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Great Debut

Blaine a player for the Chicago Thunder wakes one morning to a bit of a scandal after enjoying an evening with multiple puck bunnies and is told to keep his head down and to focus on hockey as the trade deadline looms, so planning to do just that it is a tad inconvenient when he goes to play the next match and spots Alex in the crowd and is instantly infatuated with the blonde haired blue eyed hottie. Alex is a lifelong fan of the Thunder thanks to his grandpa and cannot believe the seats his best friend snagged as a birthday present for him, he also can't believe it when at the local bar after the match Blaine makes a beeline for him and propositions Alex and he refuses. To say Blaine is shocked by this development is an understatement but Alex has his reasons and they go their separate ways but thanks to a teammate it isn't long before these two are back in each other's orbit and Blaine decides pursuing Alex is the only way forward.

As a vibes reader I have to say the vibes here were on point. I had a great time with this, I enjoyed all of the characters, our MCs and the side characters all had me smiling and interested in them and I'm looking forward to getting to their stories throughout this series. This was a sweet, heartwarming read that had lots of funny moments, great banter, found family and delicious spice. I loved how much of a simp Blaine became for Alex and how he never wavered once he decided Alex was it. Usually I like a bit of angst or conflict in a story but I actually enjoyed that this didn't have that, it was just a happy fun time and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Does this break the mould story wise? No. Does it have very common tropes etc? Yes. But considering this is the authors debut I'm impressed and I really enjoyed it. Alexander Cendese & Liam Dicosimo narrate and as always I loved their performances. I highly recommend giving this a go. 🌶🌶
